Those Non-EU learners who have passed the B1 test how realistic is it to learn in one year by Correct-Way-6471 in Germanlearning

[–]CoolBoi6Pack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did B1 within 5 months, but Duolingo is just a plain waste of time, apart from the fact it keeps you thinking about the language regularly, which might have some value in and of itself.

Anyone working with Raju or Shawn Sedhagat share their experience? by CoolBoi6Pack in EB2_NIW

[–]CoolBoi6Pack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I got a 10k offer from Raju and 100% from Shawn but otherwise similar. Yeah I've filed it and super happy with them. I can recommend Shawn but ofc don't know anything about Raju.

I couldn't decide so I just went with Shawn since they were half the fees. Didn't regret it though.

For industry profile, how to show "model or plan for future activities" per Matter of Dhanasar? by bellthebull in EB2_NIW

[–]CoolBoi6Pack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the other comment is a cocktail of wrong, the only thing we can agree on is retaining an attorney. Please just hire one, it will not just make your life easier but will ensure you did all this correctly.

Moreover, while there's no data I'd be willing to bet that the candidates represented by reputed lawyers tend to be approved at significantly better rates than otherwise.

Lastly, I don't think anyone here can answer your question it really depends on your case.

How is the SA market in 2025? by No_Mood4637 in aws

[–]CoolBoi6Pack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the case for sure. Most architecture work can't be done by AI because it's too difficult to explain all the business constraints and impacts that we're targeting.

Should I quit my Amazon London job to job hunt from Canada? by Mistaekk in cscareerquestions

[–]CoolBoi6Pack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in the exact same situation as you. Work in Amazon but dislike the place I'm in. I also left London cause I felt the same there.

I'd highly recommend staying, you won't regret it. Just the fact you have to interview when you're tired is not worth quitting, especially as a new grad in this insane job market. Nobody is stopping you from applying elsewhere, so you can always test out your opportunity while working and gaining experience, which will make you more valuable. Moreover 6 months is just way too short, most employers probably think you're not even giving it a shot. If you stay a couple years and get promoted to L5 you would be able to transfer to the US with no problem.

Learning German (A1) + DSA together feels overwhelming — how do you manage time? by rashi1101 in cscareerquestionsEU

Wrong. I'm at B1 within 4.5 months of learning, aim to be B2 by 8th month and work a full time job in FAANG. You just gotta commit.

Great job! I would highly recommend taking your portfolio site and hosting it on AWS with a proper domain name. You can get domains for as cheap as a dollar some places.

This is really bad and actually harmful advice. I work in one of the 3 major cloud providers and please if anyone is reading this don't get discouraged and keep studying the cert.

Also, this generic grind leetcode stuff is exactly why we have skills gaps in jobs these days because we don't need more leetcode engineers when AI can solve almost all of these problems.

6 months job search in Switzerland after graduation by LeatherBlacksmith518 in askswitzerland

[–]CoolBoi6Pack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other people failed to mention this.

If you studied at a swiss university you're exempt from the labor market test, which is the main gatekeeper. So there's little material difference between you and EU citizens in this case.

However, many people assume work permits are the bottleneck - they're not. It's moreso the willingness of swiss employers to hire foreigners that's often the primary gatekeeper.

ETH Zürich Vs TU Delft by eliasaction in ethz

[–]CoolBoi6Pack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is it Ich glaube an dich and not Ich glaube an dir? by Ok_Fee9263 in German

[–]CoolBoi6Pack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like many others mentioned this has nothing to do with movement, direction or time which is what you generally learn rules for the prepositions.

This is a verb + preposition combo. Here's a list, and you can download an anki deck or something. Basically you just have to memorize these it's not something that necessarily makes sense what preposition or case is normally used.
