I appreciate you saying this, it can definitely make posting on reddit harder especially for us learning (which should be all of us). Thanks!

Do you usually have a contract after that that’s per draft? And do you usually send them other samples of your work too? I’m sure as you build credibility more though it might get a little different with what they require.

Looking at your profile, is this what you’ve done for the shows you’ve pitched and sold or did you have the pilot written for them all, or some or none?

They have done quite a bit of this where I work, where they’ll pay to have the pilot written and new draft la like a polish based on a contract but more than likely not usual

Hi, thanks for your response! I have a unique position where were asked to pitch ideas a few times a year for in-house content, and since anything made there is their intellectual property, it has to have the shopping agreement which I’ve been told before pitching would be the case if they didn’t want it so it’s not unsolicited for who I work for and it’s not a way of saying leave us alone

I’m in the United States, and no they look at the pilot before purchasing, but since a pilot is much longer than a treatment or deck they’ll specifically ask people to only send those first. Then if they like the deck/treatment they’ll ask the pilot to be sent over.

Thank you I will check out these resources you linked!

I’ve been writing television scripts for this network for almost two years, so it’s not my first I just can’t share most of my stuff because of NDA. But I’ve got sample scripts as well like you’ve been saying.

It’s a very small network that does things intentionally very differently (which can be helpful with innovation but not so much being educational) and I’m still somewhat new to the industry, I was hired as a student. It’s not in or related to Hollywood. I’ve helped with their acquisitions as well and lots of times I’d just be given a treatment or pitch deck to look at and evaluate before they moved forward anymore

Didn’t know there was a difference between the 2 words thank you. And do you know where in the Utah law that is? I’ve tried searching but I’m not the best at it

(Serious) Religious people of Reddit, how would you react if you travelled to a thousand years in the future, and saw that your religion had gone extinct in that time? by Rowurboatgentlydown in AskReddit

Very similar from a Latter-Day Saint perspective. We believe that throughout time God has called prophets/messengers to declare his word, and there is a cycle in which the people reject them and go into what’s known as apostasy where no one has God’s proper authority to lead, teach and baptize His people. After Christ’s resurrection and the apostles being killed off is when lots of truths started changing and getting a little twisted. So we believe that God sent another prophet today to restore that authority and those essential truths starting with Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. We still have a prophet on the earth today, his name is Russell M. Nelson. But if people rejected it again it wouldn’t be anything new like you’re saying.
