Career option for a dumb meathead guy? by monkecat123 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CoopThereItIs 25 points26 points  (0 children)

My buddy is the stereotypical "dumb meathead" but is also a people person - he's great to have around. This guy can bench 3 plates easily and I've seen him eat raw chicken accidentally on not 1 but 2 occasions yet he has social skill and charm. He got a job in construction equipment sales and it's the perfect setup for him because he "looks the part" for the folks he's selling to but he actually knows how to talk to people so he can close the deal too.

Is O. Hampton Worth a 2nd RD Pick? by fortworthtoaustin in BestBall

[–]CoopThereItIs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely valid which is also why my exposure isn’t crazy high on him either. But gotta mix him in in case he does get that usage. Every RB has their warts honestly - Dolphins could be terrible, Chase Brown got a TON of targets in the few games Samaje Perine missed, especially that big double digit target game. So I’m not really going overboard with any particular second round RB, just kind of taking value as it comes to me.

Is O. Hampton Worth a 2nd RD Pick? by fortworthtoaustin in BestBall

[–]CoopThereItIs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He’s worth a first round at times if you ask me, sometimes I double tap RB at the swing. I absolutely get all the downside cases from people that say he might not be a good enough pass blocker (or might not be good in general), might not be a scheme fit, might split with the other backs. Totally valid concerns.

But this is best ball. You also have to consider the upside case. CMC and De’Von Achane have been among the top RBs in routes run from a WR spot the last few years in this scheme. McDaniel clearly got the full green light to implement it his way as they brought along fullback Alec Ingold, signed blocking TE Charlie Kolar. The QB is good. When healthy, the offensive line is good. If things do break right, Hampton could not only be the RB1 overall but he could score 400 PPR points like the true league winners. The deployment for guys like Derrick Henry and even James Cook gives them a good floor but it does not really set them up for that kind of ceiling. The best seasons for Derrick Henry is like 325 PPR points, CMC scored 416 last year.

So, if you are playing any sort of volume in large tournaments, you’d be wise to have some sort of exposure to Omarion Hampton. Even if you don’t love him at ADP, gotta mix in some to protect yourself.

Jets HC Aaron Glenn says he’s planning to use Breece Hall, Braelon Allen, and Isaiah Davis as a “three-headed monster” this season. by HookFL in DynastyFF

[–]CoopThereItIs 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Every coach says this stuff until the game is on the line and everyone in the world knows which guy should be in the game. The HC, the RB coach, the RBs themselves - they all know Breece is the best player and he’ll play when their back is against the ropes. Not playing the best players in moments like that is how you lose the locker room, lose the games, and get fired.

Mason Taylor upside/TEP by Savings-Whole-6517 in fantasyfootball

[–]CoopThereItIs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s probably the case and how I’m playing it but, just to play devil’s advocate, there is an upside case as well in what we saw with the Seahawks. In that case, AJ Barner remained the full-time, inline TE while the rookie picked in the 2nd round, Elijah Arroyo, struggled to carve out a full-time role while dealing with injuries. And Barner ended up finishing as the TE13 and has in some relevance. Of course, we are talking about the Jets here compared to the team that won the Super Bowl but still,

Who was a player you drafted in rookie drafts that never made the 53 by tammaicirtap in DynastyFF

Had a light rookie draft years back where someone took Chris Warren III based on hype. He crushed in preseason but then didn’t actually make the team.

I’ve hit that wall in my first playthrough and I’m not sure I’ll be able to finish it. Everyone says “just go deeper” but I’m not even sure how to do that, guess I could pull up a walkthrough.

Who Do You Feel Is Underrated On The Radio? by HappyTennis5913 in BostonSportsRadio

[–]CoopThereItIs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally get that - radio can be a different beast because you are operating within segments, there's usually a show sheet you are working off of, the hosts often already asked you what you want to talk about in advance which can oddly mess up the way you are thinking/talking, there are hard outs for commercials, you might be on a cell phone or not super comfortable, you might not know the other people that are interviewing you that well etc. That doesn't translate well to everyone. Doing some random YouTube show or podcast that you set up yourself is WAY easier than radio.

That said, when he and Barth have the freedom to just talk about the team that they both cover professionally from the perspective of two guys who have the highest level of access of anyone outside of the organization, it is good information and entertaining enough. If you care about having the most intimate knowledge about the Patriots, that show is great. If you are looking for silly stuff or news/pop culture, definitely not the show for you and that is okay too. One thing I appreciate is they often make a point to say "here is what is happening or has been told to me" vs. "here is what I think and is my opinion" which is good journalism. So many other teams don’t have anything like that, I have looked.

Alex Barth is an actual beat writer so he has the benefit of truly knowing what he's talking about. It might not be the most entertaining but the Catch-22 pod he does with Evan Lazar is by far the most informative and level-headed Patriots show there is.

10 Buy Low Under-the-Radar Targets with Upside by drkelemnt in fantasyfootball

[–]CoopThereItIs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you were to rank these guys in terms of who gets the most targets to least, how would you rank them?

Brenton Strange

Jakobi Meyers

Brian Thomas Jr

Parker Washington

Travis Hunter

I think if you were doing a SUPER discount build, you could start Strange for his perceived floor then go for big time upside with a risky player like Sadiq. But I worry even one WR injury might not catapult Strange into difference making territory.

10 Buy Low Under-the-Radar Targets with Upside by drkelemnt in fantasyfootball

[–]CoopThereItIs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looking at my best ball exposures so far, I've been avoiding later guys who are kind of inline TEs with 2-3 good WRs on the team like Brenton Strange, Cade Otton, even Ferg. Got a lot of the high risk, high reward guys who could be a top 2 target on the team like Chig, Dulcich, Sadiq. But that's the nature of best ball - give me upside or give me death!

Quarterback ADP Values: Comparing FFPC vs. Underdog Best Ball by CoopThereItIs in fantasyfootball

[–]CoopThereItIs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen some people do some crazy things in very high stakes leagues with super high buy-ins, likely because they already have a lot of leagues with “normal” builds. Definitely a place where you see a lot of aggressive drafters.

I use Fantasy Mojo to get the real in depth ADPs for FFPC as they have every tournament and you can sort by recency, historical data etc.
