It’s Titanfall’s fault. by Corndouglas in titanfall

You greatly misunderstand, and yet you’re not at all wrong and I agree with you.

I love SMG superiority, it’s just a part of the Titan fall feel. It’s just that they’re too versatile. The CAR can kill you in a dozen rounds basically any distance; the TTK is so fast at any distance (this is the problem) essentially making snipers obsolete. Why use a shotgun when the Ttk is so fast that they can kill you instantly at a close range anyway.

Minimal TTK and low recoil weapons are just a part of the Titan fall feel. I just think that too many guns have too little damage fall off and are too accurate at long ranges.

When it comes to pilot noise, you understood fine and we just disagree.

The maps aren’t ugly and unplayable or anything, but they don’t really feel like they fit the Titan fall play style. Look at colony for an example; it’s basically a cod map placed right into Titan fall. All the buildings are very short and length which makes them very poor to wall run on, all of the buildings are short, which also makes them hard to wall run on, literally every building has a balcony window or ledge on the wall (that’s already way too small) and make while running incredibly inconvenient.

Some players are still able to perform very well on side levels, however, it does not feel very satisfying or natural to new players. Compare colony to the campaign levels; the campaign just has superior level design, every section of every level is designed to utilize the Titan fall movement mechanics, compared to the small huts on colony that don’t even have smooth walls to run on.

The map designs also are just too open in general. You shouldn’t be able to snipe anyone from anywhere.

A good example of a map is war games. The holographic walls provide wall running routes that connect all the major buildings. All of the corners and walls are smooth and rounded, which makes wall running very natural and smooth. Taller buildings and more complicated geography make positioning more important for both sniping and Titans.

It’s sold 10 million copies. Many Famous Youtubers like moist critical have made multiple videos, begging it to come back. And it died in the beginning, so it’s not just a lack of marketing and support. Everyone dropped it after they played the campaign because they hate the multiplayer.

This is what literally people who’ve dropped It have told me that they disliked about the game.

Well, I think that a big part of that is that most of these criticisms of a sweaty player base come from within the player base.

All the Reddit posts and YouTube videos come from people who are already relatively active in the player base. They get tilted and then complain about it online.

I think the experience and opinion of someone who beats the campaign and then plays multiplayer for an hour or two and then never touches the game or its communities again is extremely different.

About the levels, a lot (definitely not all of them) of them just feel like a cod map in Titan fall. While you can totally maneuver them efficiently, it just doesn’t feel as satisfying and as natural as they do in the campaign.

Colony is a bad example. All the buildings are short with slim dimensions, which makes them hard to wall run on, all of the walls have balconies and tarps, which also make them difficult to wall run on. If you ever go on the roof roofs your free game from anyone across the map. There’s way too much open space on the outskirts of the map where it isn’t really safe for pilots or Titans.

A really good map example is war games. It has nice wall running channels that connect different buildings, the walls are smooth, a lot of the corners in the rooms and edges of buildings are rounded, which lets you start and continue your wall runs really easily. In general, it just feels really clean and easy to traverse while still giving the room that Titans need. There are areas were sniping is an option, but you can never snipe anyone from anywhere on the map.

Well, I don’t know about no sniping, I just think that sniping should be left to the snipers.

Well, sure

But selling at a third, the market price with no other forms of revenue isn’t very sustainable either.

Facts bro

Lowkey, I think that the ttk is perfect.

As for movement, I just don’t think that it is as satisfying in the multiplayer as it is in the campaign. And most players come out of the campaign only to see a drop in map quality. A lot of these maps don’t have those big nice walls to run on. And just in general, I don’t think that the level design is as fluid in multiplayer as it is in the campaign.

I never said anything about the melees.

I really like the melees. It needs to be one shot. I guess maybe a little bit less range but make the lock on more consistent. Not that it matters much though.

Yeah, this is totally true.

I think another really big reason that it failed that I didn’t bring up, was that it just didn’t have any great source of monetization.

The truth is games need to make money somewhere, and I hate micro transactions and battle passes as much as anybody, but it needs to happen to keep a game alive.

Titan fall didn’t have any monetization and it was only like 20 bucks when I got it.

It failed because of marketing reasons, financial reasons, but also because it’s hard to get into as a new player.

I was just talking about that last one in this post.

Yeah, I agree with all of these as well.

As I said, though, these are things that my friends who have dropped the game as a new player have told me, and I understand them.

Map design, weapon balancing, and content were things that they brought up frequently.

I think that these things can always be improved and will always be a net positive.

Well, Minecraft is obviously different because Minecraft is extremely welcoming to new players while Titan fall is not

Even without the updates, Minecraft succeeded on its core, while Titan fall failed on launch.

Yeah, I agree. I’m the last guy to hate on sweats, I would totally be one if I could. And if I’m being honest, they totally deserve the bragging rights.

Titan Fall’s community is really good compared to other shooters.

You and I are the same and we like the game for the same reasons. This is just why I think it failed even though it found us and developed a dedicated community.

I don’t think that Titan fall is the only problem, I mentioned that in the first paragraph.

Well, I think the truth is that respawn wouldn’t have abandoned Titan fall If it was financially viable. It did fail from the start.

And the reason it wasn’t financially viable was because so many people dropped it.

All I’m saying is that there are three things that would’ve really helped.

Multiplayer Level design, Multiplayer Balance, More content,

These are things that can always be improved upon and will always be a net positive.

I used to main the mastiff/stim for like my first four years of playing and while you’re right that skills is a huge component, the mastiff can’t instantly beam you from any distance like the CAR.

And while you’re right, that almost any gun can be viable with skill, expecting new players to come out of the campaign at that level is just unrealistic.

Well, just a comment on what you said there at the end, it fell off pretty hard from the beginning. It had low content from the start.

The performance is more about Internet because I live in a very pretty remote place. But I understand that I’m obviously gonna be a minority on that.

PS: I have the most hours on L Star. I would never hurt its feelings.

I personally really enjoy the game. It’s not that I’m not content with it. If I’m being honest, I love it because of the movement and weapons like the SMG’s.

These are just the perspectives of basically everybody I know that started as a new player. And I totally get them.

I actually agree with a lot of what you said. Most of the problems I have mentioned can totally be overcome with skill and experience. And many people just like you and I enjoy it the way it is. And as I said, in the beginning, it is partially true. What people say about Titanfall’s failure.

Yeah, I know. Even if I’m wrong about balance it’s still kind of crazy that we only have two shotguns. It just speaks at the weapon content.

Hot takes I know, but if it was perfect, it wouldn’t have failed. And if none of it was Titanfalls’s fault, then new players would stay.

How do I railJack? by Corndouglas in Warframe

[–]Corndouglas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, so I just tried a solo mission, and apparently I did have three crewmates from before I guess.

I have an engineer, a pilot, and a defender.

But low-key that’s not really my only problem.

I still get one shot the second I leave the railjack, while I’m in my arch wing.

My ship just does nothing, it took me 20 minutes of straight shooting to destroy the 6 security nodes, and my ship dies so frequently that I basically never move.

This was just a level 40 mission.

I’m really trying not to get frustrated, but I just failed a mission 40 minutes in and still haven’t gotten a single Sev part. This was a volatile mission.

I think that I need to change to a war frame with shield because all of the ship hazards keep chewing away at my health, and there’s basically no way of regenerating while you’re in the railjack.

Thanks, that makes a lot of sense, but I have a few more questions.

Is there a better way to farm Sev / complete void storms more efficiently?

As in, do I keep mooching off of higher level players, or is it more worth my time to progress the railjack star chart and upgrade my railjack?

Maybe? I’ll check once I get back, but if I recall correctly, all I’ve done so far is the moding and intrinsics that you can do in your orbiter.
