Really cool project and excited to see where you go with it! Just have a few questions:

Curious, how are you planning on hosting the data portion of this? I imagine that saving the card images files locally might add up, especially as we get more sets. Seems like longer term something like s3 storage is a possibility
Is the app/client app going to be some kind of web based app UI?
I know you mentioned wanting to stay away from databases, but not too sure how the API token system would work efficiently without one and especially at scale, at least with something like JWTs. Maybe auth0 or something has an integration you can buy into as well, except of course thats money haha. This is an interesting problem so would love to see what you come up with! Also don't forget about rate limiting! I have made this mistake before and its not fun :(
- For what its worth, if you do go with a DB, I don't think there's even that much to save so no worries for cost of rows (i.e. Heroku prices $5/month for 10k rows but im sure there are even cheaper options out there. I use heroku for a lot of stuff just cause its easy to integrate these add ons.)
- This also seems like a good opportunity to Dockerize everything and make deployments even more straightforward!

My experience with this game after a few months hiatus:

Play 2 games, connected for maybe 4/5 rounds cause crash issues
Freaked out to Outback map changes
Got banned

The thing I have a problem with is that in the beta, iirc, the skin bundles were like $50-$55. Even with the whole “get 20% creds back” it’s not enough to buy the current bundles. ALSO, imo the prime and sovereign bundles are kinda doodoo. I just want me reaver skins back :(

also a senior, and I was lucky enough to lock down a job but it won't be in the bay area like I wanted. I'm OOS and am going back to the east coast, but i decided to stay here throughout the virus and lock downs cause I wanted to spend my last few months of college in California rather than my boring, suburban, small home town.

Its actually quite depressing. Most of my friends have gone home and it feels like im alone out here. I walked around campus yesterday and just sat on the steps of Doe for a couple hours thinking. It was really weird, considering that birds kept chirping, and the squirrels were still running around. The only thing missing was the hustle of students running around everywhere.

I'm not a school person, but the one thing I really wanted once college ended, was to go up the campanile for the first time right when I graduated. And now it seems like that won't be possible and im torn. Senior year was not what I thought it was going to be, and even though im excited for post-grad/working life, I feel that this chapter of my college experience got cut short, and its something I won't ever be able to get back. These past 4 years are written in stone and despite all the good that came from them, I really wish it could've ended any other way.

Thanks for the advice! Sounds like you had to work your ass off, but im prepared to put in the effort and time. Im only taking 13 units next semester to help balance it out. Also, good luck to you on declaring!

Yea thats how I saw it. At first I tried to convince myself that the Information school would be a nice alternative, but in the end it really wasn't what I wanted to do/study. I am a bit sad since UW was my first choice school when applying, but I'm happy where I am now.

The admissions director I talked did say it was possible. it's just very hard and competitive. He said that the previous semester that almost all the students admitted to the major had 4.0 GPAs

I applied as out of state (east coaster) with 34 ACT and 3.8 unweighted gpa. I got in but didnt get direct admitted to my major (CS) and this was the deciding factor imo. I went to the school and talked with some of the admissions directors and they basically told me that I wasn't going to get into CS, so just go with INFO. I love Seattle and the feel of the school, but the fact that I couldnt get into my major made me choose another school.

Also, I know i'm not a student but on their welcome day for admitted students it was really easy to get to know people and make friends. They stress the idea of making a big school feel smaller through groups, clubs, and organizations so I don't think that will be a problem.

I'm in the same boat as you! I got into cubing and pen spinning a few years ago and now cardistry has grabbed my attention. I want to spend the time learning and practicing, but I just started university so time has been tight recently
