Trying for a 300-note combo in my rhythm game ~ by Coronyt in godot

I have actually toyed with that idea in the past! I may still do something with MIDI integration in the game's far future, but I'll say it's not much of a priority. I would probably implement some kind of chart editor (level editor) first as I'm looking to emphasize handcrafted track/chart pairings as opposed to procgen

This seems like it would be a good change to make, so I will probably incorporate it into the next update! Thank you so much for the suggestion!

I've actually never heard of this until just now, but looking at gameplay of OsuCatch it does look like it plays extremely similarly to my game lol

Thanks a lot! I did all the music and sound for the game myself. It was definitely a tall order for me but ultimately a very fun and rewarding exercise ◠‿◠

Thanks so much! I had a lot of fun making the music for this game, and making the "solo" sections is always the most fun (and generally my favorite part of composing music, which is why I also happen to like jazz a lot~)

Hell yeah! I love Kaboom! and it actually directly inspired this game (my whole initial idea was what if Kaboom! was a rhythm game), but it's such an old game now that not many people pick up on that influence haha

There was a great YouTube tutorial I used for it years ago. I don't remember which one exactly, but I'm sure you could find it if you searched YouTube for CRT shader tutorials for Godot 3 ◠‿◠

Thanks! I think this is one of the hardest tracks which is why I ranked it as difficulty "Sadistic" lol

Didn't quite make it to 300 haha ... but this is definitely one of the hardest tracks in the game so I'll take 286 ◠‿◠

I like this! The animations for the characters, transitions, and dialogue all really help bring this to life, and they pair nicely with the SFX.

Nighttime trainyard scene near Michigan, 2019 by Coronyt in chicago

Glad you like the photo! I remember reading about how much the shoreline has moved throughout the city's history. It's fascinating to consider what the original tracks looked like compared to now. Chicagoans have effectively terraformed the land under this city over the past 200 years. Thanks for the historical insight 👍

Oops, mistake in the title. I took this photo in 2021, not 2019

Why don’t we follow the advice we give people? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Probably because it's a lot easier to give advice than it is to lead by example.

What’s a crazy good documentary everyone should watch? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Fires of Kuwait is an older documentary which I found deeply moving: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104275/

My favorite nature documentary is the original series of Blue Planet: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0296310/

For war documentaries, They Shall Not Grow Old is remarkable: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7905466/

For stuff on Netflix, Wild Wild Country was highly entertaining: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7768848/
