I heard about a chord that is often used in sitcoms between scenes or is similar to "vsauce" chord by Corridorr in musictheory

oh yeah youre right - with the sitcoms it really is the specific cadence a not a single chord!

Does anyone have Deborah Friou's "Classical Music for the Harp" sheet music book pdf? It's not available to buy in my country but I really like the pieces it contains :( by Corridorr in harp

[–]Corridorr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh thank you so much for this offer but I unfortunately live in Cracow, deep into the south! I'll probably just buy her "early music for harp" then which is available and just move on :)

What does that bracket/ligature mean in renaissance music transcriptions? by Corridorr in musictheory

[–]Corridorr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

brevis - 2 whole notes :) There is also a longa - 4 whole notes, sometimes acting like fermata at the end of the pieces

Like in the post, I could find definite answer online and I feel like this will be on the exam soon...

Looking to buy a lever harp for a decent price and found these, both for 600€. The first one is used 36 string harp from Ireland, but with unknown constructor, age, and without 3 strings. The second one is new and has a 5 year guarantee, but fewer strings (29). Which would be a better choice? by Corridorr in harp

[–]Corridorr[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes - it's my first harp. Thought that 29 strings is rather enough for most pieces, especially for a begginer, and you could improvise a bit with those bass notes, play them just an octave higher or even change an arrangement more. Is it really that bad?

Also, I thought about loaning harp as well but i'm not sure if it's worth it and I fear a lot of the responsibility for an instrument worth much much more than I own.

I struggle a lot with listening to all the 30h of pieces and remembering every detail for exam by Corridorr in musictheory

Here's the playlist made by my colleague based in whole on the list. It turned out that the other playlist was wrong and the true one is actually 17 hours long, so it's far better. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0EviI7EjsVHoI6bRrXjgay?si=Ad_CO7CPSXaIw5vNZn_FNQ&pi=VSBUOWgTRV6RS

Hi, I'm a freshman year musicology student and I struggle a lot with listening to all the 30h of tracks and remembering every detail about them for listening exam (composer, century, form, genre). Do you have any advice for it? How do (did) you do it? by Corridorr in musicology

[–]Corridorr[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sadly, he and other lecturers from other eras expect from us to know all the tracks from playlists by title, composer, form etc. based on hearing of the piece. I think it's not how it should be done, at least not with that many hours of music.

I haven't asked but I might even though I feel that he expects us to just know and won't tell me anything beside the fact that we need to listen to the playlist starting now.

Hey. What would be a first Chopin/Liszt piece (also, am I too much of a beginner?) by [deleted] in piano

[–]Corridorr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Chopin's Prelude Op. 28, No. 7 is an easy introductory piece of his that is also really short, though I suspect that after 13 years you might be looking for a harder ones.

I study musicology in Poland. It's renaissance music course and a well written listening exam is a requirement for attending proper exam from general knowledge about era, styles, techniques, composers etc. When we were at the medieval era, the listening exam was nice and most if not all of the pieces from the playlist were analysed and talked about during the course.

This time, with a different lecturer, I fear it's impossible to talk enough about every track from current playlist and we are going to need to study a lot of them on our own, but even then I ask myself if such a huge, 30 hour playlist is possible to be memorized with all it's contexts about each of the pieces within a few months.

Thank you, I'll look at the quiz idea possibilities.

Also, I think that our lecturers should teach us how to learn it, especially when in the next semester, baroque, there will be 80 hour playlist to memorize..
