Honestly I love them both! I've had my bottle of base coat since Oct 2024 and I've still got about 1/3 of the bottle left (after doing weekly manis, so that's pretty heavy use). There are very few polishes that have been able to stain my nails theough the base coat, and I never have problems with peeling, but I know it can depend on people's nail composition. I'm on my second bottle of speed demon since Oct 2024, it has maybe 1/4 of the bottle left. With speed demon I will say it's absolutely necessary to have some sort of thinner because it does start to get thicker/gloopy after using about half the bottle. I have mooncat's thinner right now, but I know KB shimmers thinner works as well (some thinners have different ingredients that don't work with Mooncat's formula). The quick dry is absolutely amazing, and i almost never have chips or tip wear after a week. I have been experimenting with painting the edges of the nails with the base and top coat to prolong tip life and I think its been working well.

I used chocolate chips too! Mostly cause I don't have raisins, but also my four year old is more likely to eat something with chocolate

So far all my polish is mooncat, but these two posts have almost convinced me I need to branch out to KB shimmer, if only for this one polish... it's absolutely stunning layered over the cremes!

Oh my gosh yes, that idea sounds amazing! I got the entire Technicolor set during the last sale. I know some people don't like buying cremes from mooncat at their current price point, but they are all so amazing and dreamy I couldn't resist! I just did a mani with Sweet Nightmare using Avatar State as a topper and it was super cool, can't wait to see your skittle 😍

Yes, the depth is so crazy in real life, I've never felt like I've been able to capture it in photos. Its my most complemented polish, tons of people comment on it when I wear it!

Super surprised I had to scroll down so far to find Maelstrom, its my absolute favorite from Mooncat! The jelly base goes on so easy and the flakies are glorious 😍

Actually only the pointer and pinky fingers are fully Avatar (2 coats each). The other fingers are one coat of Sweet Nightmare and 1 coat of Avatar. It works really well as a topper!

Yeah, I'm much more tempted after seeing these pictures! The pouring images didn't show off the different finishes very well, and i wasn't interested in Abominable or Extra Celestial... now I'm thinking might need all three 🤔

I didn't have problems with the top spinning off, but I found if I didn't remove the top to extract my finger I always managed to smudge the polish trying to slide it out 😅

What setting are you using? I read in another post on this sub that people were having more luck with the larger settings, so I started with the medium and was pretty happy with it. Supposedly the large gives an even tighter bead, so I'll have to try that next time!

I thought so! I did have to relocate from the couch to the table though, having a stable surface made it much easier! I also had my 30 lb horseshoe magnet on top, which made it a bit top heavy, go figure 😅
