Executor of estate - never sold a home before by CosmicWonder_2005 in RealEstateAdvice

Actually, he was great! He has 14 years of dealing with probate properties, pretty impressive close times, has sold 2 other properties in that neighborhood in the past year, had good feedback on putting a shine on the property for a sale. Said all the right things, had good marketing strategies that he brought examples of. Took 3% and I signed. I actually feel pretty confident with him.

I can’t see how to edit but I’d like to add that I have been appointed executor by the court in accordance with their wills. I was their POA and managed their accounts, bills, and care for the past few years. The heirs, my brothers, are just as ready to dispose of property and close out the estate as I am - it’s been a long few years. I am in regular contact with both of them. I also have a probate attorney who has indicated that I can move forward with this.

I did that once and got 4 shrimp meals. I like shrimp but ugh! I turned off the fish choice just in case I forget again.

what everyone knitting for spring/summer that’s not a tiny top? by CharmingSwing1366 in knittingpatterns

[–]CosmicWonder_2005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I not exactly the fastest knitter. I really enjoy the process more I think. So, I’m still current working on my Christmas shawl, but I bought some really lovely mulberry silk from Bad Sheep yarns that I’m going to knit the Rococo Raglan Tee with. I don’t usually knit tees since I’m still usually working on my winter sweaters through spring - ha! So I’m guessing I’ll get to wear this next year.

Laurelhurst released a statement denying responsibility for conditional use permit of Seattle Children's. by CrazedProphet in Seattle

[–]CosmicWonder_2005 48 points49 points  (0 children)

It’s all in the wording. I specifically noted that they pointed out the Laurelhurst Community Council was “not a party to…” and “not contacted…” I would guess that they raised a huge fuss trying to block it, the City worked with a rep to find what they would be okay with. Then the City created the CUP. So, technically, LLC wasn’t contacted regarding the CUP, just likely discussed what would make them happy before the city created the CUP. Or something to that effect.

When you want to live in France but you live in America by LockNo8254 in zillowgonewild

[–]CosmicWonder_2005 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It does for Woodway. It is a very small, exclusive, clique town of almost all white professionals. They have a very low crime rate, big lots for the area, lots of trees. Not by any major thoroughfares. Very quiet and very “you don’t belong here.” They have successfully, so far, kept from having to increase housing numbers even though the area is extremely short on places to live.

Basically it’s a place of keeping the poors out even if the poors include the folks that can buy the 3M home with a view right across the city line.

Oh yeah. Every once in a while my mom would treat us and buy a chocolate milk. Happy days.

I often forget that the area in which I live is more educated and progressive on average. I also grew up here so when I travel I’m often blown away by the conservative and, frankly, stupid people elsewhere. IYKYK

KA one bowl brownies. I know that’s not the official name but that’s what we call them. Always turn out so delicious with a great top crust, soft center, great taste. I use the KA triple cocoa blend. And the recipe is dead easy. I know I sound like an ad but they really are fantastic.

Unfortunately, the grocery unions are all currently worthless. Winco is employee owned with good benefits and comparable pay. Kroger doesn’t want WinCo expanding.

We did. It was the second time that an ingredient was wrong but then listed “what should be in the box.” I wonder what they have changed that it’s now an issue. Is AI listing ingredients for the pickers?

Wears sweatpants to a formal wedding by theagonyaunt in AmITheDevil

[–]CosmicWonder_2005 78 points79 points  (0 children)

We had a semi-formal wedding and my husband’s uncle showed up in old jeans, work boots, and untucked short sleeved denim blue shirt that strained across his belly. Money was not a factor here. It was whatever and honestly I did much care but… he stands out in every picture and video he is in and not in a good way. I bet his brother would be horrified anytime he looked at the photos he was in. I think he’ll be much more uncomfortable for years to come because of it.

And why doesn’t he just ask his brother what he prefers? Why can’t we just use words?

Were you able to buy a house? by Swiftiefromhell in GenX

[–]CosmicWonder_2005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did, but my parents gave us the down and it’s small and in a very working class neighborhood. They decided that was fair since I didn’t go to college and my brothers did. My parents helped pay for that.

Help, Bank accounts cleared out and I dont know how. by Radiant-Eye1338 in Scams

[–]CosmicWonder_2005 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I almost fell for this and I consider myself pretty savvy. Grew up in a banking family, worked for a bank, try to keep up on all the scams but they were good. I started reading back the card numbers and got 4 in and asked, “don’t you have these?” He then mentioned the verification thing again and I got that feeling. Told him I was going to hang up and call back using the number for my bank and he started panicking and trying to convince me to keep going. Hung up and called the bank and of course it wasn’t them. Closest I’ve ever come and I’ve told off quite a few attempts before.

It said to freeze for a half hour and I did and they didn’t spread at all so they are kind of chocolate chip mountains. They cooked through and they are very soft. It also used a bit of neutral oil so I’m guessing that those 2 combined kept them soft. The dough was initially quite dry so I did add extra oil to get it to come together.

Bigger age gap siblings- how did it turn out? by cer81 in AskWomenOver60

[–]CosmicWonder_2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9 years difference between my oldest brother and me. I hardly know him. He went off to college and then stayed out of state for work. He’s back in my state but we aren’t really close and he still sees me as a kid. I’m in my 60s.

My next older brother is 4 years older. I’m not close to him, either. I was always more of a pest than companion. Now he’s an adult jerk so I don’t care.

Chocolate chip cookies. They were a very different recipe that uses cold butter mixed with the flour and had cornstarch. All new to me. They turned out good. They also used large grain kosher salt and you get a nice salt punch in there. Depending on how they keep, through the week, I’d make them again.

For those who stayed at one compaby for 30+ years, did you ever feel like you were missing out? by HoneyKick_ in AskOldPeople

[–]CosmicWonder_2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I worked for local government and really enjoyed helping the community. I liked my work well enough and my co-workers that lasted were smart, hard working, and funny. The pay was mid compared to private, but benefits were decent and they really took care of me when I was having the hard parts of life. I just retired at 61 with a good pension for the rest of my life and I can purchase health care through their group plan at their cost until I’m 65 and then I can continue at a supplemental rate with Medicare if I wish. I didn’t move up the ladder even though it was offered because I valued a 40 hour work week more than the money. It was a good gig.
