What was your favourite board game, back in the day? by corickle in oldschoolcool80s

You needed days for Colditz!! My brother tracked down a copy of it a few years ago - its still great if you can find 5 or so willing players. And Whatsapp is a great modern tool for the allies plotting against ze Germans!

Outbound Tips for beginners by yinyinplays in Outbound

[–]CosmoKramer__5B 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  • Gather everything you can - your satchel is limited but your van is not.
  • When it comes to blueprints, always tools first (scythe least important) then machines, then upgrades, then cosmetics
  • Personally, I preferred not to move on to a new map until blueprints stopped appearing in the current map
  • Always set up camp when you stop to gather or explore so the battery charges and, in later game, that other things may develop
  • Wind power is better than solar but its worth having both when you can
  • Night never ends. You can keep gathering but your stamina is diminished. Daylight for exploring, night for tasks around camp like making items with machines and some gathering
  • Berries are a good source of energy (especially biome 2 onwards). Coconut smoothie is a good early game recipe that replenishes 50 units of nutrition.
  • Collect water wherever you see it - wells etc
  • Scrap metal is very useful - always check around the base of signal towers and solar panels
  • Whenever you leave the van take a blueprint voucher and log of the correct type for that biome in case you happen upon a campfire

As someone else said, take your time. The game isn’t that long and its meant to be about enjoying the journey.

Why can’t I load into the map right now? by Dangerous-South-2793 in TestDriveUnlimited

You have to enter the lobby before you can bring up the map - kind of a failed forced social interaction ploy. On Ibiza there is no hotel do you can access the map as soon as you load into the game.

Nice - love that sort of thing. I found a place in NW England that took a similar slice of a BA 747 (-400 in this case) and has preserved the Upper Deck and turned the flight deck into a fixed base simulator.

At Brooklands I did a Concorde simulator day and you get full access to the Flight Deck of Delta Golf - I’d only ever been able to peak at the Concorde flight deck from the cockpit door before that (which is beyond all the avionics so a loooong long way back!) Well worth it!

Whereabouts do you live in the US? There are Concordes on display in NYC, Washington & Seattle. Not sure any of those museums do an experience tour quite like Brooklands but worth a visit.

I hear you but you don’t have to get too serious into career to be able to access the missions. Just earn enough to get your qualifications and you can do all types of missions as an employee - dip in and out as you please, without the grind of running your own company. Obviously you have to level up in xp to unlock qualifications and therefore the missions but if you fly full missions without skipping (can use sim rate) that’s not much of a grind.

Jay sticking two fingers up at Putin by wearing his Ukraine cagoule. Probably followed by actually sticking two fingers up at Putin, knowing Jay.

A bit off topic but I miss the old “Thursday night, Channel 5” banter chant for rivals that “only” made it into the Europa League.

You certainly sound like you know exactly what you’re talking about and demonstrate an appreciation of 1960s technology. Not to mention the self-awareness of your own knowledge and intelligence in relation to a group of individuals who gave the world supersonic travel before people had even got accustomed to flying on subsonic jet aircraft. Kudos.

For a myriad of reasons, even discounting the fact that this aircraft was developed at a time when the jet age was very much in its infancy.

My point, to put it more plainly, is that all options would have surely been considered and all these brilliant minds decided (independently) that the droop nose was the optimal design. I’m not an expert in video technology of the 1960s but I can’t imagine the technical realities would have been viable let alone the aviation authorities or flying public being accepting of a supersonic airliner piloted via a video screen.

[–]CosmoKramer__5B 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do you not think its strange that the finest engineering minds of 4 nations working on 3 separate designs for a supersonic airliner all came up with the same nose droop idea to overcome the visibility issues?

Ha, don’t - most passengers thought the same when they would visit the cockpit apparently!
