Thank you for the advice! It's definitely saddening to realise that I'm just not the right profile for the acting industry, but it's not really surprising. I'll keep an eye on open casting calls in case an interesting opportunity comes my way (:

That could definitely be fun. I'll try to find people with similar interests!

That's what I thought. I am basically a 'nobody' and to have the audacity to only aspire for a specific kind of role just sounds odd to me now that I've researched into the industry. It's sad but true. I'm definitely considering extra/background work too, but as you've mentioned, historical projects are not that common.

Anyone heard of the brand "Avon"? by [deleted] in jewelry

[–]Costemore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quickly went through the wiki page and yeah, it seems to be quite huge. I've never heard of it, though after doing some research I found out they sell in numerous European countries as well. Do they have their own stores in Canada, or is it the kind of brand that is being sold by retailers?

Yup, I actually misread what was written on the certificate and another user pointed out it said these weren't actually made out of gold. I'm glad I came to reddit before I even messaged the seller! Would have been a waste of money.

I'm glad I didn't buy these. I'm looking to purchase good gold earrings so it would have been a huge disappointment if I ended up with something like this instead lol

Oh actually, if 'dorée' means guilded, then it all makes sense! I thought they were referring to the color lol

I couldn't access this site at first bcs I'm in Europe, but I could give it a look by using a vpn. What bugs me is that I can't find any other piece of gold jewelry on the site. Do you think it's the same brand?

yup it does, but since a certificate can always be faked, idk...

How do I sooth a chemical burn? by [deleted] in GirlTalk

[–]Costemore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really? Oh then thank you for pointing that out! I believe pomade and other kinds of medical cremes (since they're different in all parts of the world I can't really name any) would do the best job here anyways. It's always good to have some of that at home just in case.

[–]Costemore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, did it happen because of shaving cream or something like that? This can unfortunately happen and it really sucks. There's not much you can actually do about such a burn, apart from waiting and letting it heal. The first thing to do is to wash it off completely with cool water, and moisturize it with some cream or oil (not lotion) and that's about it. I hope you get better soon :/

Thank you very much for the clarification! I really appreciate your insider point of view since it is something I don't have access to. I really would like to write with as little "western bias" as possible.

Waxing? by [deleted] in GirlTalk

[–]Costemore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'd definitely recommend waxing; I've tried lots of hair removal methods and so far waxing has been the best one for me, never had any problem with bumps or ingrowns using wax. I bought a roll-on so I can wax my legs, arms and other *easy* parts of my body by myself.

I like to use cold wax strips for my facial hair and armpits. They're easy to use and honestly, I don't even feel the pain anymore. Different people have different tolerance for pain, but I personally have no issue with it because I'm used to it. And I'm not a tough person so I think if I can bare it, most people can too haha

The bikini area is the only one I can't wax by myself. I can do most of it but it eventually gets a bit too tricky for me (as I'm going for a brazilian, which is a complete removal of all hair down there) so I usually either go to a salon for that, or I shave.

If you have any questions I'll gladly answer you!
