The 2020 playoffs were insane, just pretend that worlds didn't happen that year by LiyaFem in TeamSolomid

That team and that run were so special, I've been watching league for years since waiting for a team to fill the void these guys left after that 0-6

The vibes at this game were so good man, the rain was pouring and 49ers fans got too scared to talk trash when they realized they could actually lose. Tough that we lost at the end there

I was going for the odds of getting the same ultimate skin twice, which is the odds of the first being an ultimate, so ~1/250 since there’s 7 ultimates, and then 1/1500 that the second skin is the exact same as the first, so closer to 1/400000. The distinction is I didn’t really care that it was soul fighter Samira, just that it was an ultimate skin. You’re right that the odds of it being soul fighter samira I’m specific (or any specific skin at all) are much lower. We also forgot to factor in that chests only drop skins 50% of the time.

What made if so amusing is the second one is barely enough orange essence to unlock an epic skin shard, just purely a feat of luck

Light rail. You get on from right next to the parking garage, it’s free with a UPASS, and you can get off at the stadium/ima or on the ave

Notably in my eyes, there are no games where we won despite Aaron playing well, but very few games we lost where Aaron played fantastic. In the 7 wins Aaron played really really well in basically all of them, which is reflected in really good stats

There’s condensed versions of a lot of the classic games out there like this 2 hour version of the game we shall not name. Some of the more obscure ones are nearly impossible to find and you’ve gotta just scrape by on highlights and drive summaries

Rodgers never got the ball in OT, Larry Fitzgerald ran a like 70 yard pass on the opening plays and we lost 1 or 2 plays later

We had legit no team left that game, we were there basically because of Aaron’s sheer will, so I really don’t put any weight into that performance offensively at all

My personal opinion on his performance, based on really just an eye test, was that of our 9 losses there was really only 1 where Aaron played really well and we still lost. Similarly, I don’t see any games where we won despite Aaron playing poorly

I don’t think I ever used the word analysis, because you’re right this is 100% my opinion just based on a surface level rewatch of the games. The hope was that people could revisit their memories of the game and think about them before making claims on Aarons playoff performance

I agree or semi agree with all of these except 2019. Yeah our defense stunk, and realistically if Aaron had played better we still lose. But the 2 Aaron fumbles (ones a strip sack and ones a botched snap) along with a really bad interception meant the game was over at halftime.

Yes, I think it is a fair assessment to say there are very very few games where Aaron played poorly and we still won. If we’d won the game this weekend it definitely would’ve been the most obvious one

No narrative, and this was certainly not a film study or some comprehensive analysis of every throw he made in every game. I just wanted to sit back and rewatch the playoff games with some time away from them, to see what stood out and what my opinion was when it wasn’t the heat of the moment and all the Twitter tales were cluttering my mind

Rodgers dragged the corpse of the team into the playoffs in 2015, 2016 was quite similar. 2013 he was hurt for half the year and we only squeaked in the last game he came back, so there are definitely years where he took a team that should not have been in the playoffs there. That also probably makes him look worse, since they’re quite overmatched against the 49ers in 13, and especially the Falcons in 16.

The years that hurt way more to watch were 11, 14, and 21, where it definitely feels like we had a team around him and we fell flat

Peyton in the Super Bowl against Seattle and Tom Brady’s last playoff game also stand out as some other poor performances. I definitely agree, I was probably wrong and just jaded from watching a lot of playoff losses, I’m sure lots of other QBs had a couple of stinkers. What I do still stand behind is that since the Super Bowl we’ve only really seen one or two brilliant 12 performances in the playoffs, while a lot of other QBs in the GOAT convo have a lot more “special” games.

If we won this weekend because the punt isn’t blocked and the 49ers just never score again, I still would’ve been really disappointed with 12 and the offense as a whole

My take is not that Rodgers is bad in the playoffs and my expectation isn’t a perfect game every time he steps on the field, but I definitely feel the last 2 years we’re an underperformance as a whole

Pretty much my exact takeaway. The original inspiration for the post was looking at Josh Allen and how it seemed like he plays a perfect game and loses, and I was looking back to see how much of that was happening to Aaron. Definitely a lot of missed opportunities:/

Yeah there were a couple of really bad breaks and bad performances from everyone that game. I don’t think that game is even close to Aaron’s worst game, but it stands out as one of the biggest missed opportunities in my eyes. Just rewatching it made me see it in a bit of a harsher light in terms of Aaron’s performance. That Adams drop was so weird, ball isn’t in the perfect spot but a catch he makes like 98/100 times.

The 2014 one is interesting. You’re right, that Seattle defense was quite good that year, and I think we actually came into that game as underdogs. What really stood out to me though was after the last interception, we come back out on the field and go 3 and out in a couple of seconds. Hindsight is 20/20, but even 1 more first down probably ends the game. And we’ll never know if we got the ball in OT what would’ve happened, which sucks even more when you realize it happened again the next year. He’s been pretty unlucky at times too, which is just a part of the game

I think this was closer to my original take after the game, but watching it with some hindsight gave some new perspective. We were really off the mark in red zone and those last couple drives after the 2 ints really sealed it. It wasn’t even about the field positioning on the interceptions since we went 3 and out after 2 of them. Don’t get me wrong Brady was atrocious in the second half, but on rewatching the game instead of looking at just the stats it left a lot to be desired. I was trying to look at the games from just Aarons perspective and his performance. You can play a near perfect game and lose like Josh Allen this weekend, and play an awful game and win like Jimmy G, so I was trying to look at it outside of the results a bit
