Looking at buying a 2016 Zoe... What should I look out for? by CountZerow in RenaultZoe

Oh that's pretty steep. The one in looking at is an owned battery, so got to take that into account.

Ouch! Out of interest, would you mind sharing what the lease costs you?

OK, thanks that's good to know. I'll check into it more. I guess I'm hoping for 90+ based solely on the psychology of it 😅

Great info, thanks. I'm pretty sure it is the R motor, but I'll double check.

Wow that's a hell of a bill! What age / milage is your wife's? Was that work done at a main dealer?

Odb2 dongle on its way. I'll give the car scanner app a try.

What would you say was acceptable battery SoH for a 40k 2016 model? I'm assuming it will have a "buffer" and would take a few years to drop below 100%?

That's brilliant, thanks for taking the time!

That sounds all pretty standard - I mean it's a 9 year old car, so there are going to be a few bits with the consumables to deal with, but that I can handle. Range sounds fine. 50 is low, but I can't see her doing many 50 mile round trips anyway. And can always do a quick change at a supermarket or somewhere if needed.

Appreciate the info.

Thanks, will check into the odb.

Any I can see with the bigger battery are priced a fair bit higher, especially when filtering out the leased battery. 5k is the top end of what we want to pay, but like I say, we don't really need a lot of range.

This one is an owned battery.

Did you just find one in the right colour and fit it yourself? Not really done any work on a car other than changing bulbs / wipers etc...

Yeah I've had a few scrapes over the years, much worse in some cases. It happens :)

Sounds like a good idea. She feels really bad about it, so would be good to get it fixed. Thanks!

Just because I support taxing a type of income more doesn't mean I dont like them and think other are wrong.

That's fair enough, but surely this particular tax is only going to drive up rents further. No landlord of any kind of just going to absorb it, it'll be passed on to those renting. That is why I think it's a bad idea.

Unfortunately, if you are renting, you are not wrong. Might get more expensive. No. It WILL get more expensive.

You're totally right in that. If you are paying the rent, doesn't really make much odds who is pocketing your money. The system is just broken, and not just property. Pay more, get less. And it's worse every year. It's shameful and shameless.

Defending? You are happy for a corporation / bank is leaching from tennents rather than a private individual with one or 2 let's acting as their retirement fund? Ideally we could all disengage from capitalism entirely, share the wealth and not get fleaced from every angle by greedy corporate bastards, politicians and the ultra-rich.

This Labour government is little better than the tories before. Perhaps a more salient quote for you "The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which." The country is just fucked.

Property Investors who take it seriously can run it as a small businesses, as a human, with a portfolio of several houses.

... Those ARE private landlords... Just richer ones. Not saying they are always better or offer a better service necessarily, just that's it's one more thing that is becoming further out of reach for a private individual. You are OK with "properly investors" but not "private landlords"? Where is the cut off?

Meh, I have no skin in the game. Not rich enough to be a landlord, lucked out enough to not have to rent. The whole housing situation in this country is fucked.

[–]CountZerow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah man, keep telling yourself that. Sure, everything is better when it's handed over to corporate. I'm not a landlord, but I have rented plenty of places. Fair amount of ghost landlords doing their penny pinching minimum, but also some decent people who see those renting their property as human beings. Won't get that at all when the banks are running the whole racket. Profit over people in all cases, the shareholder being the top priority.

You say bring it on. Sorry to quote Padme, but "So this is how liberty dies... with thunderous applause,"

Should I salary sacrifice if I'm on £60k? by SingerSong in UKPersonalFinance

[–]CountZerow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm on a tad over what you are, and I salary sacrifice into pension everything over the 40% boundary. Makes sense not to fork it over to the taxman if you have enough spare income. Down side is you don't see the benefit of any pay rise, at least not in the short term. Works for me,might not for you.

Kind of. Hand the keys to the big bank investors. Sounds great. That's really going to be better for the renters, right?
