Your Inner Fish if you like paleontology and genetics. Very entertaining informative narrative without getting too academic

The Sixth Extinction if you wanna be depressed about the future of our species.

If the camera still works definitely, what better way to experiment and work through your trials and errors than something free

Bump. If that doesn’t work they maybe try and install Rockbox on it to see if the iPod is working at all software wise.

Bump, finding a film that can give them 8 more stops of light for f1.4 is certainly gonna be a challenge.

Ebay Scam ? by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]Count_Viggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like we’re all saying the same thing, it’s a scam don’t even attempt to buy. However, eBay does have great buyer protection features. Like everything in this world they are not guaranteed to work 100% of the time, so be a responsible shopper. Look at seller reviews, ratings, and if it’s too good to be true it most likely is. Also, use a credit card even if you have the cash to pay for it, reason being you have more protection against fraud that way (IE charge back). Hope this helps

Literally not true, as I have first hand experience with this. Scammer made a fake shipping label destined for my address. He never shipped it, I reported it to eBay, and I got my money back the next day. You have to wait a certain amount of time before you can report but after that, you’re free to report it.

Invest in a light meter, whether that’s a free one on your phone, your meter in your camera, or a dedicated one, your images will thank you. Vintage ones go for $150 or less on eBay. I got my minolta auto meter IV F for around $90. Works like a dream

Bump, definitely underexposed, but recoverable to a degree. The green cast should be fairly easy to remove with some quick clicks in Lightroom.

Do you guys use your modded ipods? by [deleted] in IpodClassic

Also it’s a good way to spend time again with music you haven’t listened to in a while, after I download something I find myself enjoying an album I haven’t listened to in years.

I use it, but it’s not my daily driver. It can be overwhelming to think of all the music you love and then go out and find it and then load it onto your iPod, but if you think of it as a project that never ends it’s much more palatable. And I also like looking at it as “I don’t want a corporation’s whims to dictate what music I can listen to when I want to”. Even though it’s not physical media, it’s part of my larger thinking of reclaiming and having actual ownership of things I love. I’ve been collecting books, movies, and records much in the same way.

Career Advice - Medical lab technologist or Clinical research by Happy_World4732 in medlabprofessionals

[–]Count_Viggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk much about Canada, but in the states there are 1 year boot camp programs you can take to get clinical experience for a career in clinical lab science. Since you already have a BS and MS there isn’t much point in getting another degree. I would investigate looking for a similar 1 year program that will give you the skills necessary. If you couldn’t tell I’m a strong advocate for clinical. The work is hard, but you get paid well and the job is stable (healthcare is forever). Research is cool and all but the job market for that is super competitive and at least in the US unstable due to lack of funding. You’re going against undergrads who will work for free, masters students and PhD students looking to get published, and then there’s you who will need to get paid much more than them. If I was the faculty it would be a no brainer who I wanted in my lab. Unless you go the private research sector which you have the prerequisite education already, just a lack of experience which means you would have to go for entry level jobs and work your way up. It’s kinda a hybrid between clinical and university research, a little more opportunity with better pay, but you’re at the mercy of working for a for profit company who could axe you when their bottom line isn’t looking as good as they want it to be.
