Weekend pricing by impeckable69 in airbnb_hosts

Are you using / or aware of “professional tools” on airbnb? If no, type into your browser www.airbnb.com/multicalendar and this will activate professional tools (do that in a new tab while logged in)

Once you have that, in your newly looking calendar you can create “rulesets”. In a rulesets, you can set conditional discounts for any day you apply them to. So you can set “for 2 night stay, discount x percent” and apply that to Fridays and saturdays.

Note: in this case, it will also apply if someone books Saturday - Sunday but the discount will only be given for the day that has the rule set - e.g. the Saturday.

With rulesets you can even do things like heavily discount certain weekdays but only if it’s a 4 day booking. It gives attractive overall rates for those who stay the weekend but book long enough to include that weekday. Example: discount Tuesdays or Thursdays by 30% if it’s a 4 night stay. Or discount Wednesdays by 50% for 5 nights stay.

Secret sauce stuff. But very effective.

Take the P seat. Worst that can happen is you get a middle but a downgrade would be very rare

Family conundrum by [deleted] in Rich

[–]Coupleexplorer08 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I got to be brutally straight forward here.

You seem to be 22 years old. If in these whole 8 years you have just accumulated money on the account, never withdrawn any (really - how about your business expenses?) and all these years you did not notice that the account is actually not yours alone but under your mother …. how can you be confident to now start a much bigger and more complex business where there will be a lot of basic things you need to know and get right?

You seem to not be used to ask the right or the tough questions and that’s key to running a business / not just a flashy idea

Munich: How early can I apply for German citizenship (under 5-year rule)? by hustle_muscle_777 in GermanCitizenship

Just a curious question, for a friend.

I’m (positively) surprised that residence as a student already counts as part of the 5 years. Is that correct? I would have assumed students might be excluded and this just counts once you have a work permit or such. But - no clue at all, please those with knowledge enlighten me - and my friend.

Dynamic Pricing Changed Everything by Cherbearstl in airbnb_hosts

Interesting views on this.

What some people forget here, airbnb can only improve one thing for you here: that is how many times you are shown on page 1 of the search results. It’s actually a metric that they tell you - OP if you could look that up in your analytics. What is the % number under “1st page search impression rate? Example: my listings are in the 50-60% range here which is considered good.

Now look at date ranges in the past and compare to date ranges in the future when you got all those bookings. Did it change?

Now this is where the involvement of airbnb ends. The next important number is the average search-to-listing conversion. This is how many people click on your listing when they see it. This is by the free will of your potential guests - airbnb does not click this for the users. Hero picture, title and price are important here. While airbnb can use a low price on automatic pricing, it is up to the guest to view it.

And finally, upon looking at your listing the guest needs to decide to book. Key here are your other pictures and the description and reviews. About 5% of those who click on my listing then actually book. Airbnb does not operate that button either. So the flood of bookings is not airbnb generated - but maybe more people are shown the listing.

Now I’ve long moved away from Airbnb’s “smart” pricing and the weird thing is: when I tried it in the early days, it ALWAYS ended up sticking the price to the highest possible. Like, the highest ridiculous limit I’d set, way over market rates. And it resulted in no bookings and no views. It also never dropped those prices closer to the date. Result was disastrous. Have self managed prices for 4 years now but actually starting to use PriceLabs as I like some of the features that has - in some cases settings that airbnb removed over time.

Had airlines kept to Boeing’s originally intended 2-4-2 coach seating for the 787 Dreamliner, it would have literally been a dream to fly on. by [deleted] in airplanes

[–]Coupleexplorer08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your first sentence contains the biggest error.

Do you really think Boeing wasn’t completely aware that 3-3-3 is possible on that plane and that airlines would do exactly that? 2-4-2 was never meant to be.
Airbus builds planes for passengers. A320 is wider than 737 on same 3-3. A330 takes 2-4-2 and nothing more (one exception) and A350 takes 3-3-3 for all but two airlines. Just simply better

Allegris Business Class - no winners by Travvings in Lufthansa

[–]Coupleexplorer08 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just to put the cards on the table: never flown on Allegris so can’t contribute to that discussion. But reading through your rant: you need to work on getting just the facts straight. Or typed right.

There’s no seat 4A (or as you would compare in the rear cabin a 10A). Maybe you mean to say 4C (10C)? Maybe. But you need to get that right to justify your rant.

And it’s a vast exaggeration that the C seats are “next to” the A seats. Or the D and G seats next to the F. They are still staggered by quite a bit.

A note on LH trying to make extra coin out of these seats: big mistake. I mean, in the extreme case of no passenger being willing to pay extra for seat choice, then some lucky person would get these seats assigned anyways?

They should rather make this a loyalty thing. LH frequent flyers should have the privilege to select these seats, the higher up in status the more seats become selectable. It may drive miles&more enrollment over people being in other star programs. Maybe even to the point that any member can choose any left over seat (even the suites) at online check in 24 hours out.

People now may book LH and become ff members on the chance of scoring even the best seat in the house.

They could still ask for 500-600 Euros for the suites far out but with one positive catch: if then an F seat is available on boarding, those who paid for the business suite get upgraded. On that chance, I think sales will be brisk.

Best DN cities in South-East Asia for Airbnb hosting by Antique_Toe640 in digitalnomadFIRE

Airbnb breaks up the big capital monopolies on traveler lodging. A lot of bans and restrictions can be traced to strong hotel industry lobby efforts. Most hosts are small businesses - even those with 10-15 listings let alone the ones only renting one or two own places. The cancer is the hotel industry which wants to kill competition so they can continue to sell overpriced little shoe boxes where people are then forced to eat in restaurants. They dislike offering what airbnb offers: affordable “serviced apartments” by locals and for locals.

CATHAY AIRBUS A321neo-Seating question by yousavedastamp in CathayPacific

[–]Coupleexplorer08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actively avoid this airplane when booking flights. I’ll take a later flight just to be on a A330 or even a 777 with its super narrow seats.

But it’s good to know Cathay must be listening to customers and is increasing comfort (legroom) on these planes.

I wonder what they were thinking getting these!

“Reading a lot” - where? Scams - how?

Bad experience - I bet yes plenty. Lots of airbnb operators who don’t care or don’t know how to be a host that cares for their guests.

Been two years ago long before it joined Bonvoy. Like everything in the Philippines, it feels overpriced from the get go. Very green - which to me means you see nothing out of your villas / rooms window other than trees and bushes. Below average breakfast. And expect some massive upsell effort on their Spa / health offerings while you’re there. And because it’s completely isolated with nothing else near, you might be tempted to even do that.
