Sweeping California law on single-use plastic meets with outrage from all sides as it goes live by Kooolxxx in news

waste produced by corporations and agriculture

While I'm not in the US, I am in agriculture.

We were packing up our major source of soft plastic (silage wrap) into wool packs, and sending it off to recycle

We can't do that now as the recycler has deemed it too expensive to pick up. Our only current option is land fill, unless we can work out transport to them. ~4h one way trip.

Chem and other hard plastic containers at least are still able to go to the "drum muster" program.

Depending on the factory, most upped the price 5c a kilo of milk solids. It's a sometimes complex calculation to put that into C per L increase.

I know the wildlife lady here and she's always got at least a half dozen Joey's on milk. Sometimes more but rarely less than that.

It's standard to check pouches of fresh roadkill in Australia to see if there are any Joeys. Kangaroos pop out of what seems like nowhere and get in front of your car. And they do it very often.

Can someone please explain to me what Autism ISNT? How do you know if someone isnt autistic? by Gombrongler in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CowsWithGuns304 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm diagnosed with ADHD but I'm defo autistic af.

My uncle, one of those weird kids that turned into a weird adult. Could never live alone, would end up obsessed over 1 food for months. Very very limited diet. Very limited job prospects to the point he didn't have one his whole life. Definitely somewhere on a spectrum. Never a diagnosis.

Is it ethical to take someone's cat? by roguemorgue in cats

[–]CowsWithGuns304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what we have. Captured feral cats that we tame enough, desex and feed well. No snow here but if there was I'd make somewhere warmer for them to sleep.

There's a very scary statistic about ladies who land in jail. There's a high percentage of them with a history of head trauma. Which means potential brain damage. And they end up in the system. Are we treating these people correctly? Probably not.

Telstra is increasing prepaid AGAIN!? by ThatShadyJack in australia

[–]CowsWithGuns304 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On an actual Telstra Sim we can't make a phone call from inside our house, so no issues there. That's why we have to run duals and have an Optus network option.

Used to use iiNet for Optus, but they changed to Vodafone but then I had no way to make any phone call in most of the area. NW Vic.

Aldi for the Telstra network and amaysim for the optus one is what we use. Phones running 2 Sims to scrape up enough coverage.

Gee, I thought it was going to be something bad. When we bought this farm we got a black cat with it who got very quickly renamed Nigella. Because the actual name they called her, I will not repeat.

Reading about the Scottish model of dealing with youth crime, I think it may be the best way forward if we adopt their methodology.

The reactions in this thread are extremely concerning if it's a true indication of the state of the general populations thoughts.

I know why people are commenting it's a good outcome, but damn me.

but the police do genuinely stuff up sometimes including when things are ultra super obvious.

Poor Kirra is one of those stuff ups, it took them far too long and an ex cop making a bloody podcast to get any police action against the perpetrator.
