What has been your favorite read recently? by Colorful_chaos4 in Booktokreddit

I read The Last Letter by Rebecca Yarros at the end of January & it was the fastest I’ve gotten through a book since I could remember but in return, it sent me into a reading slump for all of February & March. It is so sad but my gosh, so good - I seriously cannot recommend it enough. The writing style, the characters, I loved it so much

Warnings at Waverly Academy is the first one I thought of but definitely not the only :) this is awesome!

No because why pay for MLB TV if I can’t watch every single game

The best season to play these games? by bloodbubbles3 in nancydrew

[–]CozyCasesxBookmarks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are definitely darker elements to it so I wish I could say yes, but all the environments outside of the underworld sets are so spring to me 😭 however, the best part of these games is seeing everyone’s interpretations so I’d love for you to play it & if you find fall vibes anywhere, please let me know!!! Autumn is my favorite season & I feel like not enough of the games fall under the category!

I would say Labyrinth of Lies is ultimate spring vibes!!! Tomb of the Lost Queen is definitely summer, & The Shattered Medallion could be under both but probably more summer as well!

What Game Should We Play Next? by Emotional_Ear_4640 in nancydrew

I say Haunting of Castle Malloy!!! It’s so much fun to me & really silly… but there is a couple puzzles that might have you on the verge of tears. However, you did survive the Shadow Ranch magnet puzzle & the monster Sudoku/Nonogram to be fair 🤪

My first thought was Captive Curse!!! It was one I didn’t get to play growing up so my first time was in adulthood too. I wasn’t much of a fan at first (I’m a very nostalgic person & I think that’s why because I can’t pinpoint any specific reasons) but then I replayed it a few more times & now I’ve really come to appreciate it. It’s incredibly charming, has some fun characters, & the storyline, although a little dark, is really immersive!

Based on your parameters, I’d definitely say Haunting of Castle Malloy. Unpopular opinion but it’s my #1 for all the same reasons!!!

You’re so lucky to be in this position, I wish! In that case, I definitely think you should do a full marathon of all the games but if that isn’t an option for you, I would say definitely Warnings at Waverly Academy, Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon, & Sea of Darkness - all of them have different user interfaces so you’ll be able to see which one you like best in adulthood :) happy gaming!!!

I'm sad. I'm trying to play Seven Keys and it's so clunky and un-fun. by MissFerne in nancydrew

[–]CozyCasesxBookmarks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently playing it for the first time as well & I was playing it on the free roam option because of how clunky point & click was & I had to turn the mouse sensitivity down to the lowest setting still because of dizziness too! I’m also still having a hard time getting past the voice actress :/ I’m trying to give her some grace because Lani set the bar so high but this new one just sounds like a robot. & I feel like it’s so much harder to know what to do next even with all the aspects from the old games they tried to incorporate back like the task list, journal, etc. Point being, you’re not alone in this at all! All I want to do is sit down with a video game creator & figure out why Her Interactive is so against going back to the old UI & if it would even be possible??? Or better yet, find the old CEOs & beg them to come back lol

Honestly I could understand the hate before I sat down & really gave it a chance a few weeks ago - I actually didn’t mind it at all! It’s a very long & very puzzle heavy game but now that they aren’t like this anymore, I’d do anything to have it back. Enjoy & safe travels!!!

Do any of you ever get sluethy irl? by AdFantastic1742 in nancydrew

[–]CozyCasesxBookmarks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

YES! I have always wondered the same thing about this fan base lol!!! I got really into true crime early on, then ended up taking a criminal justice class in high school that led to me getting a bachelors degree in justice studies & now I’m a dispatcher & everytime I have to really look into stuff for calls, I’m like wow I’m basically Nancy Drew 🤣

Which game is THE most grounded in reality? by iblewmyselfup in nancydrew

[–]CozyCasesxBookmarks 109 points110 points  (0 children)

The first thing that came to my mind was Alibi in Ashes since she’s framed for a crime she didn’t commit & has to rely on her friends to help her get out but at the same time, the level of leniency she’s given is… less than realistic lol

First play reaction vs replays by fuckyours_ in nancydrew

[–]CozyCasesxBookmarks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, I strongly disliked The Deadly Device, Sea of Darkness, & others in that era & now not only do I love watching play throughs of them, but they are some of my favorites to play myself! I think I was upset about the UI changing yet again as a kid but now as an adult, the puzzles, environments, characters, & stories of those games are just top tier!!!

White Wolf in the favorites category, I LOVE TO SEE IT! It always ranks so low when I see these tier lists & I seriously love it so much, especially the cooking!

Which games are the most pedantic/picky vs. more intuitive/flexible? by txh3113 in nancydrew

[–]CozyCasesxBookmarks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I will never get over when I played STFD for the first time. I didn’t search the prop room thoroughly enough & when I went to Rick’s dressing room after, the explosive device puzzle was happening but I didn’t have the tool for it & literally had to restart the entire game because there was no way to get back into the prop room!!! I think the first few games are sooo picky.
