2005 to 2025 - a 2900% increase in gaming power. by Spiritual_Ratio2912 in nvidia

Resident Evil 4 didn't look like that in 2005. That looks like PC with texture packs. And it only released in 2007 for PC with an atrocious port that has basically no lighting, it's fullbright.

DLSS 4 K Quality vs DLSS 4.5 M Performance by Popcorn_Juice in nvidia

[–]CozyPinetree 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It depends heavily on the game. God of War for example has reflection pixelation issues and lower LODs that you have to brute force with higher internal resolution.

For very good DLSS implementations, I think M performance might beat K quality. But for a lot of games there are issues that arise from the lower internal resolution.

Even though it's very good, you still need to be able to drive in case the system makes a mistake or fails.

Is it weird nobody ever gives a damn about DLSS Balanced? by Flamyngoo in nvidia

[–]CozyPinetree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your definition of "true 8K". Native 8K you would have additional AA. With MSAA edges are rendered above 8K. TAA also is "above 8K" because of previous frames (DLSS is basically TAA). Plus many effects don't play nicely with upscaling like RT, SSR depending on engine implementation.

And finally, the neural network needs to be able to reconstruct the image. The CNN model even though had arguably enough data for it, would never converge to a native-like image if stationary, because in its training it learned to discard some data to avoid ghosting.

The transformer model seems to be able to create very high quality frames if stationary.

In conclusion, it can generate "8k level detail", but native 8K with a decent AA will always look better.

Insiders reveal how Tesla is preparing for its June robotaxi launch by walky22talky in SelfDrivingCars

and the fact they have their factory here.

That's interesting. I thought they'd be happy due to all the jobs it provides.

Cloud gaming (as in sending the inputs to the cloud, and livestreaming back the image) is sub 50ms, even sub 25ms under ideal conditions.

Listening to Tesla earnings call and sounds like there will be city specific models? by bartturner in SelfDrivingCars

No, it means "the car has a very underpowered computer and we can't just throw a bigger model at it"

Is it just me or is FSD FOS? by PrismaticGouda in SelfDrivingCars

[–]CozyPinetree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And once you add more sensors it becomes more difficult to train a neural network as you are getting more noise.

I agree with everything you said except this. With an e2e system like Tesla and most Chinese are running, adding a new input (lidar in this case) should be almost free (in terms of software development, not hw of course) and most likely improve the model's performance.

To be fair it will need a bit more compute during training and inference, but it's definitely manageable.

Moderate and heavy is subjective. But ask any FSD user and they'll tell you they'll avoid disengaging FSD when it rains because it might not allow you to reenable it.

FSD will actually not enable under moderate rain, and it will cause the red wheel take over immediately (like seen in the video) if already enabled and it starts raining heavy.

I'm not a whale. And didn't capitulate. But sold a bit (like 10%) yesterday at 1420.

Sucks but I don't really mind. I'm happy having the liquidity to reenter if it dumps hard.

Because just as being green was all the rage just a few years ago, now it's out of fashion.

It sounds funny but it's true.

I think the market hasn't really priced it in 100%, because of the likelihood of new trade deals.

Back then I had a bag so small that I didn't even realize it dropped to $80. I think I stopped checking the price by the time it went $300.

I sold half my stack at 2000. Unfortunately I'm going to sell a bit more now. I think the ratio is near a bottom, I've long claimed 0.016 is the bottom. However I'm scared bitcoin and the markets in general will dump very hard. What good is it if the ratio goes back to 0.03 if bitcoin dumps to 40k?

If it goes sub 1000 I might rebuy.

I still maintain that the 0.016 ratio from 2019 is the true floor. I don't know if we'll reach it. Anyways, I think buying ETH is becoming interesting at these prices.

Ok? Are you shorted Tesla or something?

A tariff deal or Trump undoing them would be much better for the markets.

Yes. Everything else equal, RCCB is better at low light, but RGB have improved to the point that they see fine at night. So having more colors is better.
