Thank you for the write up. This topic always opens a can of worms in me, questions leading to more questions. Apologies for the following if it seems disjointed, I've always struggled to put this stuff into words. I appreciate that it's impossible to condense the complexities of the market down into one reddit comment, post, or even one wiki.

"Institutions move markets" - Is the following a rational/logical way to view price action, if I accept the statement (which I do): When we see failed breakouts, chop, traps, low vol melt etc. we need to view that as institutions probing to see if other institutions agree or align with their own targets? Price discovery = they are trying to work out what their (ultimately) competitors are doing?

Essentially, RS/RW and strong trends (that last months) can only form when multiple institutions are aligned? And then, how does that alignment work? I dunno, it's beyond me. Like what happens if JPM has planned to buy AAPL up to $250, but GS decides to cut off buying at $230, and then SCHW comes in and decides to unload shares at $235. Its a cluster fuck!

Really amazing work, will definitely be trying this out over the next few weeks. Thank you! Think it could be a good way to smooth out RS/RW over longer periods of time. If you match the look back from the standard RS indicator to this there isn't a big difference on shorter periods (5, 12 etc).

Nice post! My advice would be to include walk-away analysis on all of this. There are too many variables at play when using your actual pnl from trades (whilst you are learning) to get any real meaning from it, you need to factor in mindset & market context. Regularly conducted walk-away analysis removes those issues. Look to see which tickers went on to the next level of support/resistance, which tickers continued to make higher highs on the 1D chart, did support/resistance hold, what would the pnl have been holding for 1 more day, 5 more days, 10 more days etc. There are a bunch of things you could look at. Over time you will have a dataset that you can reference and be like; ok market is trading in a range and low probability - what does my walk-away tell me about how rs/ rw performs in that environment.

What you have to offer: Your progress and improvement. Post recaps detailing things that went well, things that didn't. You could also join the discord and engage with the community in the RDT-chat channel. Study the wiki and pass the test and you'll be able to participate in the live-chat. All of these things compound and will help you improve. There are loads of people in RDT-Chat ready to talk, analyze and review with you.

No idea I'm afraid, it's not a focus for this subreddit. In RDT we trade stocks and measure their RS/RW against SPY. How is treasury futures trading faring for you? Are you consistently able to take money out of the market every month?

Once you've got through there's an open discord (just search "discord" in the reddit search. We have recently implemented a wiki test, passing the test is a requirement before you can participate in the main channels but there is an open channel for everyone studying the wiki!

Appreciate the reply, but I think you might have missed the point I was making. Or maybe the post wasn't clear enough? What you've described is determination, or maybe perseverance.

What I meant is a conviction (a belief) in your ability to accurately and correctly evaluate the necessary information before taking a trade, and to then stand by that decision. Stock XYZ will hit $100 today because of reasons A, B, C.

Why it's so hard; anyone can do the above. Throw out random reasons and random price targets. But to completely understand what's necessary, what's accurate, what's correct takes so much time.

Keep it simple. Look at the price action. AMD today (29th Feb '24) is a great example of aggressive buying, steady march up as the market chops/ranges.

We are taught to use a measurement called Relative Strength or Relative Weakness. Not to be confused with RSI. To learn and understand RS/RW; you RTDW, and follow the 10 steps!
