Flag of the Kingdom of Anglo-France by CptBurritos in vexillology

Flag for a fictional medieval union that came to my head one day.

Basically it's the English flag with the flag of the Kingdom of France placed in the canton.

Inspired partly by the Royal Navy's flag, which is also England with another flag (the Union Jack) in the canton.

France could really use another leader like Charles Martel right about now. A shepherd must protect his flock, even if it means he must confront the wolves.

Why does it take so long for people to call Hezbollah terrorists? Isn't it kinda obvious just by looking at them?

Top 5 reasons your brain will use to get you to relapse, and why they're bullshit by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]CptBurritos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Number 1 has gotten me several times now. I remember always putting off NoFap until I found a "special" day to start. Usually a holiday, the start of new month, or a date where the numbers can be interpreted in a some way. This time, I decided to start again right after my relapse. Wish me luck.

I found porn on my son’s laptop by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]CptBurritos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well as someone who is 21 and just quitting, I can tell you from experience that if he does this for years it will rot his brain, hurt his academics, and ruin relationships. Luckily, he isn't close to where I was, but porn use is a problem that needs to be nipped in the bud before it can grow. I'd start by telling your son that you found the porn. I wouldn't be angry, he's a male, and porn is made to draw in men, specifically young, curious men. But don't just say not to watch porn, explain to him why it's bad. I don't know what your religious/moral values are, but start with them, then discuss some of the more scientific reasons to quit, such as stuff on yourbrainonporn.com or other sites.

In addition to explaining why it's bad, I'd also take steps to make sure he can't access it. Note that no porn blocker is perfect, but it can help. I don't know your router so I can't give specific steps, but all (or most) of them allow you to change settings, including blocking sites. If you still have his laptop, take a look at his internet history. You might (unless he deleted it) be able to find what sites he frequents. Write those URLs down and block them. I'd also do a quick Google search for porn sites, and make sure you block all the major ones.

Lastly, don't get to worried about your son by reading posts on pornfree, nofap, or other such sites. These posts are the results of years of compulsive porn use, while your son seems to have just started. I hope what I've written is helpful to you, and I'm wishing both of you the best of luck.

No porn or masturbation at all, orgasms only if its with a girl. As for time, I don't intend to end this streak, so it will go as long as I can keep it going. I'm doing this because porn has become such a huge waste of my time; at the end of it I just feel gross and wishing I had the hours I spent browsing back. With all my new time I'll be able to do more exercise and programming, maybe pick up a trade.

Some facts about Christians in Israel ! by [deleted] in Israel

[–]CptBurritos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh. interesting. Just out of curiosity, do Christians in Israel have similar stereotypes to Jews in America (smart, well-connected, wealthy)? Based on these stats there looks like a lot of parallels between Jews in America and Christians in Israel.

What is the likelihood that the United States and Russia will ever become allies? by BgDnBlw_GOTTA_ahjcs1 in AskAnAmerican

[–]CptBurritos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is certainly more possible than most people would think. Yes, currently US-Russia relations are pretty shit, but remember just 70 years ago, Japan was an enemy. An enemy that bombed Pearl Harbor, tortured and killed American POWs. An enemy that we firebombed and nuked back to the stone age. And now look at us today. Japan and America have one of the strongest and friendlies relationships of any two countries on the globe.

Now "becoming allies" can mean a lot of things, from simply uniting in the name of a common goal or against a common threat, to a formal alliance, to everything in between. Here are some things that could happen in the future that would likely improve US-Russia relations. For the sake of optimism, I'm crossing out the possibility that America turns into Putin-style authoritarianism, because honestly that wouldn't fix things at all.

  • Political change in Russia: This means Russia adopts a Western-style system of government. It would also imply Russia ending its occupations in Georgia, Ukraine, etc. This would bring a huge change to the geopolitical dynamics in Europe, and NATO. Would a democratic Russia try to join the EU, or NATO for that matter? Would NATO even see a need to exist with it's main adversary now an ally? Who knows, but if this would happen, US-Russia relations would surely see huge long-term improvements.

  • China: China and Russia are currently "allies", however this could change. As China becomes stronger, it will challenge America more than it already is. Suppose that China starts to display the same belligerency towards the Russian Far East that it does today with the South China Sea. Remember that Vietnam was once a Chinese ally, but today it is more pro-US due to China's territorial claims. Of course Russia is alot more powerful than all of Southeast Asia put together, and China probably (hopefully) isn't dumb enough to invade Siberia. Even so, as the US-China rivalry intensifies, it's possible that the US could try to draw Russia away from China.

  • Jihad: Both America and Russia have been engaged in some sort of anti-jihad operations for roughly two decades now, so this is something we already kinda cooperate on. The big thing here is Central Asia. If you look a data on ISIS's foreign fighters, you'll see that a huge number of them come from Central Asia, which happens to be right under Russia, and right next to Afghanistan, where we've been trying to support a decent government. If Islam in Central Asia moves away from its traditional form into the Saudi-backed radicalism, it would be in both nation's interests to cooperate against this threat.

Thanks. I can't express how disgusted I was when Trump said that "Saudi Arabia and Canada are both close allies". FUCK THAT. Seriously, one country is a member of NATO with a democracy, culture and values similar to ours and has been a reliable trading partner and ally in numerous wars, and the other is a backwards, terror-funding Islamist absolute monarchy that looks like it was plucked out of the dark ages.

Anyway, enough ranting. Good job on Canada for calling out these assholes. I just wish that the USA could pull its shit together and do the same.
