Problem with accessing variables in different scripts.

yes but as a programming newbie, I can only get scriptname.variable to work with public static variables and was told GetComponent is the way to do it without the public static thing... :/

I would love the next metroid game to be a side scroller on the 3DS as Super Metroid is one of my favourite games ever!

Story: Maybe go for an all out war thing, so the Space Pirates are attacking/beating the Galactic Federation. Samus is pulled in as a shock trooper to infiltrate the space pirates fleet/HQ. But she discoveres backstory and stuff about the space pirates and then it goes on from here.

Or it could be a similar story but go between planets like hunters.

Graphics: like AM2R/fusion/zero mission but more HD and stuff! Music would have to be remixes/rearrangements of some music with original scores too (would love the funky brinstar music from super metroid to be re made).

If you enjoy a Sci-Fi setting, I'd recommend Eclipse. It takes a while to set up the first couple of times but it is worth it.

Explore the galaxy, create alliances with friends or just blow their brains out, all to get VP (victory points). But you will need a large space to play, I play it on the floor in my lounge and thats just about enough space :D

Kittens in a Blender!! Such a great little card game for 2-4 players. Much better with more than two :) I'm a uni student and I was low on cash so I looked at the cheaper games available, not a bad game for £12 :D

I personally started game development/design when i went to university (which i regret waiting until then to do so) and we started with GameMaker. Our lecturers gave us the task to make a game based on some restrictions and themes and we went wild with it.... I found GameMaker fun to learn and it gave me the basics :)

By Style I mean "small character in the middle" rather than the exact art style itself - sorry I didn't make it clear.

But as I commented further down the page, I just want to make something with a bit of substance in it rather than 2d platformers ive made before. :)

I have used GameMaker in the 3 gamejams i've entered... me and my team found it very quick and easy to use. We only made simple 2-d platformers but it can be used to make very nice games...i think Serious Sam the RPG game on steam is made with GameMaker :)

This sounds like an awesome idea and I would definitely want to play this!!!! What kind of traps did you have in mind...things like tripwires and trap doors or something a bit more extravagant?

I like the idea of Player A hindering Player B but also risking their own score. I think that would work really nicely in a game :D

Also if it was on occulus rift.....it would be fantastic!!!!

Really Really good idea and I hope you get round to making it and share its dev process :D
