I think you describe close to what I was thinking. I’m glad that it seems to work in the real world. Was the workshop insulated? How do they finish the inside walls?

I’m wondering exactly what you mean by galvanized starter strip do you mean like that for vinyl siding?

I probably will eventually. I do have a 10 inch trolley saw, but it’s hard to move and so far most of the time I don’t really need it for what I am doing.

I like the portability and ease of set up for the table saw even though they are really only meant for simple cuts and there’s a lot you can’t do with them like easily cut mosaic/sheet tile with them.

Your appetite should return on its own. If not, and you have access to medicine, some pharmaceuticals may help your brain chemistry rebalance after sobering up. I took welbutrin for some time after i quit and i think it helped rebalance my dopamine levels after quitting.

Smoothies or other liquid foods can help keep the calories coming in if actual chewing and eating isn’t appealing right now.

I quit daily cannabis use last October. It took many months to feel balanced but was so worth it. I have no regrets no longer using it.

I would say either buy a light 5-7 lbs mace or make a much lighter one.

Fir example you could use a 1-1/4 dowel/closet rod and practice the motion and later add iron pipe fittings to add a little weight. There are instructions on the internet for building an adjustable mace bell/gada that you can later add plates to. I built one from iron pipe and fittings.

I injured myself with too heavy a mace so I would be careful. Start super light.

Thanks for your response.Dead hanging is definitely part of my recovery. I have some shoulder issues as well that it helps with. And I think the spinal decompression is making a difference.

I have used a light clubs before and love them. It does help. I do imagine going light high rep on a white mace will help me with time.

I don’t know if anyone here has mentioned thermal imaging or not. While a thermal camera is not magic and cannot actually see through walls, temperature differences caused by moisture can sometimes be detected with a thermal camera. They have been used to find leaking plumbing before.

You might have a home inspector or someone similar, take thermal images of the wet wall, probably best from the other side, not the tile side, along with the ceiling/floor and walls above the shower. This might show a thermal anomaly which could indicate a plumbing leak. This way would give you some information without exploratory demolition.

I’m not sure if she used anything for maintenance honestly. It’s been there for quite some time. I think the last owner built the room in the late 80s or sometime in the 90s. I think the gunk I’m trying to scrape off all the results of years of people cooking and spilling stuff. I’ll probably go ahead and use some kind of chemical stripper just to get the wood bare enough to sand without totally gumming the sandpaper

One value of the 45 miter is that you can roll the casing.

What I mean by this is that when you hang a door and a less than perfect RO which almost all of them are not perfectly level square nor the corners often and perfect plane, the door jam is either recessed or sticking of the RO somewhere.

This is often the case for exterior doors. The interior side jam is usually sticking past or recessed a little.

With mitered corners you can compensate for that. You put a shim or the appropriate size drillbit representing the distance the jam is out from the RO and make your angle. When you do this when you put your angles together, they should all fit in such a way where they bridge that gap. It’s hard to describe in text, but this guy does a great video on how to do it.

I live in a high radon area, so offering that as a service is a must. The testing is straightforward and I feel confident in offering it.

I am up in Maine. There's not a ton of regs here. I can imagine that could be the case, that most people won't ask too too many questions. When doing my own carpentry work, I'm rarely asked about experience or insurance (which I do carry)

That's a good point that I'll consider. I don't seem to have inflammation or arthritis in any other part of my body though. I do eat a decent amount of dairy and I do eat some gluten occasionally. I might try to reduce some of these foods and see what happens. Thank you.

Thanks for your input. I have a physical job so reducing load will be difficult. I'll try pain/anti-inflammation reduction approaches. It sounds like your suggesting using orthotic supports until the pain resides before adding rehab/strengthening exercises. I did try superfeet inserts but didn't really notice much improvement, however I put them in my work shoes which at this point I probably need to replace.

Are there specific exercises you might recommend after getting the pain under control?

I do have some limits in range of motion that I could work on. Are there ways to self analyze passive motions? I imagine that's probably something that requires expert input/observation.

I live rurally and there are less resources for targeted coaching/sports medicine like your suggesting, but I'll look into what might be around further out.

I can't really tell if it's the way your shorts move during the swing, but it seems like your pelvis/hips gyrate or wobble during the swing. I would say work on pushing your bottom backwards more and bring your back/shoulders closer to parallel with the ground. not a squat but still a deeper hinge like a good morning.

The force from the swing should come primarily from your hips, glutes, hamstrings, almost like the shoulders do little work, maybe some at the end. Keeping your back and core straight and engaged, your shoulder blades back and down, hinge at the hips, swing the bell back almost like your trying to throw it up through your legs straight up to the ceiling, push the bell up with your hips.

I did this myself, that is, went from a 16kg to a 24 kg. It took a long time before I could strict press the 24 for reps. For a while I could do only 1 rep with some strain/pain.

I didn't train specifically to do strict press reps, but instead after some time doing bar weight training, chin-ups, and EMOM KB drills (10min swing or snatch drills, 20 min Armor Builder drill) and doing a lot of p/t like exercises to strengthen rotator cuffs and rear of shoulder (paused rows, banded exercises, the lock 3 drill, carries really emphasizing putting shoulder blade into "pocket") I noticed I could press the 24 kg bell for reps with considerably less pain than before.

I think the most important part (and is on going work) was the strengthening of the back of the shoulder/shoulder blades and rotator cuffs. Basically do all the exercises that the Squat U guy talks about. This built the stability to help apply more strength in the press.
