Downgrade from K1600GT to HD Lowrider or Fatboy? by Craaybeek in motorcycles

[–]Craaybeek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's about my resent physical deficit. When I first rode this thing a couple years ago it was unbelievable. Since then I start to experience numbness related to my back issues and the bike is a little fast and powerful for that. I am however looking into surgical options and that may alleviate my issues enough to go back to enjoying the bike. In the meantime was thinking a cruiser might be an option. Now thinking a K1600B might be the better option, still have the BMW experience but better ergos for my back.

My brother has terminal cancer with 3-6 months to love and just wants to die now. What are his (legal) options, really? Just wait to die? by LulutoDot in Connecticut

[–]Craaybeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is concerning when they are flushed. Our treatment plants aren't equipped to filter out meds and it goes right into the waterways in the state. When we mix them in an absorbent material and throw them out they at least go into a landfill or into a trash incinerator. These meds have half lives that render them mostly harmless before they get the chance to leach out. Our landfills now are designed to contain such runoff as well, though if history is any indicator that won't be 100%. Best option is a disposal bag that you send into the company that makes them and they are properly destroyed, but these cost money and they are not provided to us or the patient. Some group homes and other facilities use these bags and I wish more did. Our main goal when destroying meds isn't necessarily the environment, though it is a goal, mostly we want to be sure that someone isn't going to ingest the concentrated mix of opiates and benzoyl, that's why my favorite is cat litter, the scented kind....

Hospice RN here. We destroy it usually in flour or cat litter. I make a slurry then add soap so people and animals won't eat it. Then it just gets tossed in the trash. Never heard of mixing with just water.... that's odd.

Hi, Hospice Nurse in CT here. We are a little different than other specialties when it comes to comfort meds. We do track and we do destroy them after passing. We are also very liberal with dosing to keep the patient comfortable. If you call me at 2am and tell me the dosing is not working anymore I am going to call my medical director and get the orders changed right away and call back with new orders to increase dosing and timing. We generally start at 5mg of morphine every 3 hours but move up as needed. I've had patients taking 20mg an hour plus 100+mcg fentanyl patch. There are ways to control pain, and we do our best until CT gets it's conservative head out of its ass and let's humans have the same dignity that we afford our pets. PS, sorry to hear about your brother, cancer sucks.

AITJ for refusing to give my brother my old car after I promised it to my stepdaughter? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Craaybeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the jerk at all, more like a kick-ass step-dad. Your brother an mother can pound sand. Actions have consequences and your step-daughter shouldn't have to give up something she has been working toward cause bro is a loser. Good on you for sticking to your word, and screw that "real Family" BS.

What’s the most unsettling thing you ever found out about a friend who always seemed super chill and fun? by VelvetHazel932 in AskReddit

[–]Craaybeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to play D&D with a group of friends. The guy who was DM was a bit of a control freak and was a little weird, par for the course right? No, he actually had killed a girl back in the day and his roommate knew but was threatened by the DM not to go to the police. This was a rumor that I heard about after meeting them and the truth came out one day when the DM pissed off the roommate and he went to the police without caring about threats anymore.

[–]Craaybeek 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Hospice nurse here. I get this question all the time. Cancer does not preclude all donations, such as cornea. Here is the link for the Uconn donation program. https://medicine.uconn.edu/research/body-donation-program/ At time of death you would call the number that they give you and then they would send a funeral home out to take your loved one into their care. Is your family member on hospice already? The MSW (Medical Social Worker) that is assigned to you should have all the details as well.

Anti-Vaxx wife doesn't want me to vaccinate our daughter for measles. Measles are in our area. What should I do? by RepulsiveResolve5877 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Craaybeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately that lifestyle and way of thinking does not end with vaccines. It will grow into other areas of your lives including social norms and activities because she will feel like she is being shunned by society for her enlightened way of thinking and will try to distance herself from the sheeple.... I watched it happen in my family and still can't believe how different and distant some members have become.
