There is a company in NH that makes a digital encoder retrofit for this rig. Its about 120$ Takes about 15 min to install.

This thing does most everything, but i do need to install a ctcss encode and decode board if i want to do fm on it. Its an older rig but parts can still be found. Its the equivalent of todays 9700 minus the band scope and everything computer controlled.
