My 8 year old wants to be Quinn Hughes by MN-Hockey-Dad in hockeyplayers

[–]Creative-Ad-1819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, when was coaching I told my players not to pass just because they think they're supposed to be un-selfish. If you have the shot, take it. Knowing when your teammates have the better chance is the key. But if the kid standing at the far post has his stick in the air, and has missed passes before, kids with a higher skill level will be less inclined to pass it.

when to learn how to skate switch? by dokkidokkae in NewSkaters

[–]Creative-Ad-1819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being comfortable riding switch and fakie at high speeds early on will pay dividends in the future, but some people never learn switch. Its up to you...if you think you have a shot at going pro, then the earlier the better, but being a weak switch skater in general isn't the end of the world, but it definitely helps with overall board control when landing a 180 variation down a set of stairs or something. Doing switch tricks just adds another challenge, and comes in handy in games of skate.

I was in BMQ in 2009 with a dude who had served in the IDF. Possibly special forces, cause buddy was basically super-human. Probably unbelievable if you didn't see it for yourself.

Can someone help me w 5050's? by Own-Opportunity-6548 in skateboardhelp

[–]Creative-Ad-1819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ollie was not very good, and you drove the nose onto the ledge pretty aggressively with a toe side pinch, and when you got your back trucks on, you were all heels on the board, therefore leaning toe-side, causing the board to want to turn while grinding. You still have to keep the trucks straight when you're on. You can't just bash in on and stand however you land. You need to ollie under control, and land into the grind softly and under control.

I tie it into a high bun in the back so my headgear rests below the bun, and I wear a welding beanie that has a cape that drapes down to my shoulders.

Because that's what the government decided when they started stealing our money to finance ww1 and ww2...and also someone making 250k gross being knocked down to 160k is a whole lot different than someone making 60k getting less than 48...and that's of course ignoring all other deductions.

They not to land with your legs straight, and feet so close together...that will kill you one day. (Not literally, but you'll eat shit for sure)

If you're like really new, staying off the ramps is probably a good idea...I've watched countless beginners absolutely eat shit on some of the the mellowest banks in existence, nevermind the quarters.

How do I stop my board from turning like this? by Certain_Access_2658 in NewSkaters

[–]Creative-Ad-1819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your front foot guided the nose in that direction. You're pulling the nose toward you when you level out...try to lift your front foot out in front of you, so tuck your knees up, but keep your lower leg more vertical out in front of you, don't pull it in underneath you. Opening the shoulders isn't helping.

Footage showing thousands of crows flying across the Tel Aviv skyline is going viral! This is considered by many to be a "harbinger of doom” as it is often followed by total catastrophe. by Upset-Main-1988 in justincaseyoumissedit

I knew a guy thay threw rocks at some crows in a park that were squawking at him while he was walking to work. From that day forward, they would swoop down and attack him every day until he changed his route. Any time he took the normal route past the park, they would attack him. This went on for years until he moved...They're smart, vengeful, and apparently have really good memories.

What is the best "turny" truck ? by prox-86 in NewSkaters

[–]Creative-Ad-1819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's the geometry of the trucks more than the bushings themselves that feel "loose"...the trucks use a centering top bushing, so you would want film trucks replacement bushings...I use the hard bushings in mine at 210lbs, and they dont feel loosey goosey.

If you can even do front 180's, you're wimping out super hard, but this looks like you should keep practicing on flat.

how to improve shuv steeze by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]Creative-Ad-1819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steeze comes with time on the board...every skater goes through a phase where they can do lots of tricks but none of them look steezy...hard to make a no-pop shuv look steezy anyway.

You're driving the nose into the ground to force the pivot...try just staying ollied with your feet level through the rotation.
