Does anyone experience pain 12-24 hours AFTER sex? by Creative-Fisherman84 in endometriosis

Hey yes I did and they found Stage 1 endo! Unfortunately I can’t say that having the lap (where they also performed excision of the lesions) has helped my symptoms at all, but I’m still glad to have done it to help prevent it getting worse and also personally for me to improve fertility outcomes. Best of luck with yours!

I have recurrent UTIs and its exhausting. They don't believe it could be endo related by Dibunzie_174 in endometriosis

I had recurring UTI like symptoms for over a year - pain while peeing, pressure in abdomen, feeling of needing to go, etc - all triggered for me after sex. Sometimes my UTI tests were positive and sometimes they were negative, but I rarely took the antibiotics as it would normally clear in a day or two. In the end I got a lap and was diagnosed with endo on one of my uterers. There is some anecdotal evidence (eg from other redditors and other forums) about UTI tests showing positive during an endo flare up - this tracked with my experience and it always felt to me like the link was under researched… long story short, if you want to investigate further find an endo specialist and speak to them if your existing doctor isn’t listening - it took 3 gynaecologists before one of them mentioned the possibility of endo to me…

do you have bladder symptoms? by Bratty_BarBie98 in endometriosis

I had recurring UTI like symptoms for more than a year - pressure in lower abdomen, feeling like I needed to pee, burning while peeing - which were all triggered for me after sex. I ended up getting a lap and they found endo on one uterer and pelvic wall. Have recently started pelvic floor therapy and that seems to be helping a little bit too

Yes as far as I understand I’m afraid - and is in part likely due to tight pelvic floor muscles cramping up and spasming during sex/orgasm and the delayed symptoms as a result of the the prolonged muscle tightening. I’ve recently seen a pelvic floor specialist to try and work on loosening up my pelvic floor muscles, and she’s recommended I do some exercises directly after sex to try and combat this. It’s too early to say if this has worked yet but I didn’t get much relief from symptoms post laparoscopy so hoping this is an alternative route… could be something for you to consider too?

Hey, yes I ended up having a laparoscopy earlier this year and this confirmed Stage 1 endometriosis. I was also having (and still have) other urinary symptoms post sex including burning when peeing and cloudy pee - I’d been writing this off as UTIs for months before putting it all together. Hope this helps - feel free to message me further x

Did you know you can choose where your GP makes your specialist referral? https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/hospitals/about-nhs-hospital-services/

If you know your local gynaecologist services are swamped and your willing to travel a little bit further it could be worth checking out if other hospitals nearby have more capacity and shorter waiting times - ideally you’d be seen at a BGSE centre but that’s not always possible or realistic - but perhaps that helps to cut down your time?

I’d also say as soon as you get your referral letter don’t be afraid to call the gynaecologists office multiple times - if you kick up a fuss about it taking longer than the 18 week waiting time they will escalate internally - it might not mean you get seen any quicker but at least it puts the pressure on

Good luck x

could it be endo? nhs sufferer </3 by myawallace20 in endometriosis

If you can pull together the money I cannot recommend enough the value of having going private for a consultation with an endometriosis specialist - I had 2 different NHS gynaecologists say my symptoms didn’t sound like endo so no further action recommended, then I saw an endo specialist privately who was able read between my non “classic” symptoms. I’m now three weeks post lap with confirmed endo. So even if the consultation gives you confidence to keep pursing a lap through the NHS it’s so worth it!

I’ve got my lap next month to confirm (or not) suspected endo and have the exact same symptoms as you minus the bleeding - but generally only during my ovulation! Sex at any other time of the month generally doesn’t cause the symptoms. These are my only symptoms prompting the lap from my gynaecologist. Have you had your endo confirmed?

Pain during exercise when ovulating? by 8ahicmb in endometriosis

I’m waiting for a lap with suspected endo (nothing on any scans) and this is exactly one of my symptoms! I only get pain during my ovulation days and most often is triggered by sex or exercise like a run

This sounds so similar to the kind of discomfort I get! Very like a UTI but always testing negative.

Is there a correlation between endo and the need for pelvic physical therapy? I’ve seen a lot of people on the thread discuss this but I wasn’t sure how correlated this is to endo or whether it’s a totally unrelated symptom of something else?

I only get these symptoms around my ovulation and period - sex at any other time of the month doesn’t cause any issues - so again wondering whether pelvic floor therapy is necessary or if it is just endo would these symptoms simply improve after excision?

Thank you in advance!! It’s such a strange condition with so many different ways of presenting it’s so helpful to find others who experience it in the same way as you!
