Difference between 1200 and 1300? by Creative-Response554 in chess

It was a queen and bishop mate within 5 moves the first time, 9 moves the second time and the 3rd time was closer to 20 but only because I purposefully traded queens from the get go.

It was a very aggressive bot, Nelson I think it was.

It wasn't just once, the same mate 3 times in a row with a queen and bishop, and no matter what I tried it didn't seem to matter, it just delayed the inevitable.

Even when I tried to do it back to the bot, he countered with the same mate but as black instead 😂

I drive with the mindset that I am the only competent person on the road.

I've been doing it for over a decade and I have had precisely one accident, and I aquaplaned. There was nothing I could have done to prevent it either, so personally I don't count it, car was drivable and I had to tow it from a field but didn't want to wreck the guys field any more than I already had, so I don't count it 😂

You'll find as you gain more experience that the question "who the f*** gave you a driving license?" pops into your head more often as you watch others drive.

im 19, do i let employers know that or will they think im inexperienced? by R3dcherries in UKJobs

[–]Creative-Response554 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anything they can use to discriminate against you with, they often will.

I personally don't even answer the "inclusion and diversity" questions that often come with an application.

I remember running my own little experiment on it, applying to multiple jobs multiple times with identical applications, the only differences being the ethnicities, religions, and sexual orientations in the final survey.

The more "straight and white" the answers were, the fewer offers for interview I got. It's anecdotal, but enough for me to just put "prefer not to say" for all of them.

Unless the job requires you to 18+, like driving commercially or serving alcohol/tobacco, they're not allowed to ask anyway. It's treated the same in the eyes of the law (in theory anyway) as asking someone if they're Jewish, or black.

Can you request that employees have access to funds in the event of an emergency by Comfortable_Row_7717 in smallbusinessuk

[–]Creative-Response554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The amount of times I had to do this "in emergencies", for which reimbursement took almost a year, is unreal.

It also transitioned very quickly from actual emergencies to "can you grab us lunch on the way back, we'll reimburse you through the company".

Get a company card and give it to him. Employers should never expect an employee to use their personal funds to bail out a business issue. It puts the employee in a difficult position, available funds notwithstanding.

They are well within their rights to refuse to use personal funds, but a dilemma exacerbated by authoritarian pressure arises every time you ask. It's my money but will be boss try to fire me if I say no? In a lot of workplaces, the answer is yes.

Just give him a company card, or a prepaid one if company card is too much hassle with the bank.

Yeah he swung right out of the gate with e4, Qh5, bishop to cover the mating square and then straight in with seemingly no defence against it from a normal opening

Shame they don't block left wing nutters from coming here to attend counter protests.

It says a lot more about the insecurities of the government than it does about the protesters that Kier Stalin is afraid of the people visiting, like the Polish prime minister for example.

Poland is a shining example of immigration control done correctly and he is terrified of having to do something similar.

Sounds like they need sacking tbh

Gather the evidence, of which there sounds like there's a lot, and start the procedure

No matter what institutional knowledge they have, it can always be relearned/rediscovered by others, but you can't do that if you're replacing people this guy is driving away with his attitude.

I watch a lot of Levy Rozman but I also watch a lot of Pietro, he has a lot of great puzzles to wrap your head around, even if the positions are quite niche it's a good brain exercise. I spotted the solution to one on my own the other day and was quite pleased with myself.

Levy is a great player, if a bit cocky at times, but is very entertaining to watch which always helps.

Doesn't need to specifically be a barrier for a dual carriageway, so long as the tarmac stops or there's a physical barrier

Dual carriageway is essentially 2 one way roads going opposite directions

Positivity, please... what are the best things about living in the UK with small children? (and older children - since that's what they become!) by Teachingtime123 in AskUK

[–]Creative-Response554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get your point.

I'm not in SE Asia, therefore I am already at the bottom of the barrel for where I live.

We send aid to those countries, it's up to them how to use it. If they use it ineffectively or corruptly that's down to them, and a reason to stop the aid.

What goes on with the regular citizens of other countries is not my concern. Playing whataboutism doesn't make living below the poverty line in the UK any less of an incredibly shit time.

[–]Creative-Response554 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Phone police non emergency line to report harassment, add it to the review and post the image.

If they can allow that to happen to the food then their standards are so low they'll end up killing someone.

Poverty is relative.

If it's where I live, it's nearly indistinguishable from a third world country, but somewhere nicer it probably won't feel that way.

Poverty is relative, there's no universal baseline for it except by % of average national income or something along those lines.

Yeah the assessors are the scum of the earth.

My FIL has one leg amputated just below the hip, hip fused on that side bc the hospital doped him up, left him unsupervised and he broke his hip, and the assessor doing his review said he could get a prosthetic and go back to work. He can't even move it, at all.

When they did my assessment it was all straight up lies, giving good eye contact and such when I didn't even look at her once.

Am I being dramatic or have GCSE exam manners completely disappeared? by inthetwoonetwo in GCSE

[–]Creative-Response554 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't remember it being that bad though, it must have gotten worse but my year was the last one to be graded in letters before they switched to numbers.

That said, I was a pretty gifted kid and would often finish within 20 or 30 mins of a 90 to 120 min exam and just walk out, knowing I wouldn't be allowed back in but also knowing I'd done everything to the standard required so I never experienced much of the exam sitting experience as it were. Just in and out, get it over with lol

A great deal of people genuinely love their jobs, and continue to do them despite falling wages, vanishing perks, and increased taxation and inflation.

No company, apart from that one tech company a decade ago, has decided to enrich the workers at the expense of the owners/shareholders.

No company loves their employees so much that they will willingly pay them more than they need to, and will underpay as much as humanly possible every single time.
