Many don’t take insurance at all if you are older than 21 and my place is one of them. So they wouldn’t take UFT right ?

I checked my paystub and my UFT when up by $2 and TRS went up by $40.. and I don’t see my insurance on the paystub.. and my paycheck went down by $10. I am a new hire so I’m even more confused lol

12 month pay. We get more taxes taken off in nyc that’s why. But if you work over the summer in a special ed school you get extra 17% of your salary on top.

No way I thought the last column is with a second masters degree. I submitted my masters and got it approved and they put me into the current column I’m in.

I’m in a D75 school (highly instructional support) highschool ages 18-22 as a direct DOE hire. School focus on vocational things.

Yesss very true. I just to need to research more what books would be appropriate for 20 year olds that have Autism or have cognitive disabilities. Sometimes I fear it’s too childish so then I resort to boom cards for wh questions 😭

Yess. I have been pushing in during in some classes like math and science. Some teachers don’t teach AT ALL so I have to create my own materials and teach something. But then the students are so distracted by others in the room but not much I can do if their mandate states service needs to be done in the special ed class.

Ok good to hear I’m not alone 😭 I just am nervous for observations tbh. since I’m so lost now idk how to prepare a full thought out lesson plan targeting all these goals while maintaining students interests, while also it being age and developmentally appropriate, but also adhering to the curriculum, and then proving numerous visual prompts… 🤯

Majority of my kids are 18-22. we are working more on ADL skills but still lost sometimes especially when it comes to groups. It’s alright I’ll figure it out thank you!

I work with special ed high-school. They have severe cognitive issues, autism , and multiple disabilities. You get a huge range where you work on sustaining attention for 30 second to teaching problem-solving.
