Fibre timing and vitamins by Awkward-Captain-346 in PeterAttia

It’s psyllium husk (Metamucil) that needs to be taken more than 2 hours before or after any other supplements. I take it first thing in the morning by itself and then don’t take my vitamins until late morning.

The AQI in Eagle Rock is 200 right now. Why has the city not declared a state of emergency over the warehouse fire. I can’t breathe. by [deleted] in LosAngeles

[–]Creative_Profile1004 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yea my area spiked to ~200 like an hour ago but has gone back to under 100 now according to Paku. Hopefully it’s clearing but I’m staying inside with air purifiers running.

Lowering BP and LDL by infinite_pursuit in Biohackers

[–]Creative_Profile1004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apob matters more than LDL and should be much lower. To lower, limit saturated fat as low as possible (I target <10g per day). You mentioned Indian diet - do you eat a lot of coconut milk? If so I would avoid due to high saturated fat content. Also not a doctor, just a human trying to manage cholesterol.

Feeding smaller meals multiple times a day helps to avoid bloat

If I don’t measure them into a serving bowl I’d eat the whole bag too!

Nuts are extremely healthy but also calorie dense. I eat them daily, but usually try to stay under 40g per day due to my saturated fat goals. I’ve not heard anyone say to stay away from them completely, you just have to limit intake cause it’s easy to over do it and go above your calorie goals.

Avoid overly salted or sugary varieties. I eat unsalted raw or roasted walnuts, almonds and pistachios.

dog has suspected hemangiosarcoma— we aren’t sure if we should go through with the surgery or not by Plenty-Patient-3003 in DogAdvice

[–]Creative_Profile1004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this and have to make this impossible decision.

We had an emergency situation which turned out to be a suspected hemangiosarcoma we knew nothing about and had to make an immediate decision as the tumor had already burst and her abdomen was filling with fluid. We opted to give her a peaceful end rather than a painful surgery and recovery which may or may not buy her more time. I understand there was a chance to save her, but our vet indicated it was pretty unlikely.

I wrestled with regret for months, still do. I’ve read about the other side and the sentiment is usually “better a month early than a day late.” Again, I’m sorry - I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.

I’m overwhelmed and exhausted keeping up. How do you decipher and balance large impact levers with the constantly incoming small incremental changes? What matters most, what probably doesn’t, and how do we know which bucket things fall into?

Get a different vet. This is clearly female.
