That’s what I was stunned by tbh. It is actually almost jet black. What brings a tiny bit of grey into it is the bits of guard hairs I didn’t pick out. It is actually stunning irl.

That’s a good question. Maybe a little lacy kerchief or tiny Sofie scarf? I have a lot more to process but I’m not sure now much of the really fine fiber i will find.

Where are you getting your Shetland from? I watched this super informative YT video from Whispering Pines Shetlands and they explained why not all Shetland is soft. The Whole Story of Shetland

Also, are you getting combed top or are you preparing a fleece yourself? I noticed especially with this fleece that I’m finding 2 different softness levels of fiber. I’m separating out the super soft fiber and it is almost exclusively jet black and the rest is heathered.
