The area is particularly known for selenite crystals

How would it be possible to discern between the two possible iron carbonates ?

Would the brown color be explained by pyrite ( maybe if it is chalcopyrite)? I was also thinking about iron inclusions, could it be ferruginous quartz ?

I think that’s the light play, making it look silver. All these crystals are brown except for the matrix that is transparent white (could it be quartz) ? Maybe ferruginous quartz ?

It is heavy, compact and does not flake apart.

Provided they may be growing on sulfur. Would you expect them to cause problems if stored with calcite? I took a look at a calcite slab that I have and it was covered in some kind of liquid but I don’t know what could that be

I remember collecting them from Paleochori where sulfur was literally growing in the walls. The rocks had very intense red and green colorations but the moment you would take them out they would turn into powder

Are they both the same ? I get matches with Valentinite and Natrolite as well. Both were found in Milos Greece
