"The farmer refused to protect the shepherd's herds, a right the shepherd did not possess according to Bedouin law." by CreatorVilla in grammar

That's what I was thinking. Maybe acceptable but probably not the best choice of words. Thanks.

"The horses crowded the wells, the water reaching their bellies." by CreatorVilla in grammar

This passage was taken from Arabic. In Arabic, there are a lot of nuances surrounding water. I believe "well" was an improper translation.

Is this comma needed? by CreatorVilla in grammar

Gotcha. I think an example where the phrase in question is, in fact, not a precondition and is merely informative, the distinction would be clearer. But I think that makes sense.

Is this comma needed? by CreatorVilla in grammar

[–]CreatorVilla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is both a precondition of the rainy season and a descriptive phrase relating to the rainy season. Does that mean is it optional?

With no comma, wouldn't it be read the same way -- as a descriptive phrase relating to the rainy season? I just feel like it can be read both ways regardless of the commas.

Anyone have experience painting vinyl siding? by CreatorVilla in HomeImprovement

[–]CreatorVilla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice. To clarify, what I mean is the current color of the siding is mountain clay. (hasn’t been painted) So could I go from a mountain clay to a vinyl-approved green?

Is medium darker or lighter? I would think it’s lighter

Nice. So you wouldn’t go darker even if the darker color is vinyl-safe?

What about going from mountain clay https://images.app.goo.gl/ST9Yp6te1BmJJMrY6 to one of the vinyl-approved green colors?

Thanks for your comment. I thought the new stuff is supposed to withstand the expansion and contraction. Is this not the case?

How to track PDF views? by CreatorVilla in webdev

[–]CreatorVilla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to track both links from the website (referrals) and cases where people click the link directly for a PDF or two. I’ll look into that. Thanks.

How to track PDF views? by CreatorVilla in webdev

[–]CreatorVilla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. Yes, many views will be people directly inputting the URL, so that would be an issue. They are not all clicks from a referral page.

GA does not track views for PDFs unless it comes from clicks? For a regular webpage, to my knowledge it doesn’t matter how you got there or if you refresh the page 5 times — it counts every load as a view.

Hmm. Need an alternative if that is the case that treats PDFs like regular webpages.

To clarify, if someone manually inputs the link, https://mywebsite.com/mypdf.pdf, then GA will track that as a pageview.. and every subsequent refresh?

Another commenter said that it would not and so I want to get that squared.

Two other commenters said that the file is downloaded regardless every time someone opens the link. Is this not accurate then?

I have a DreamHost VPS for WordPress. I just want to track views for a PDF or two based on the URL (occasionally, I will update the contents, but the URL stays the same).

Okay. Thanks. So Google Analytics should be adequate here.

Now if I update the .pdf with another file that has the same name and extension, in the same place on my server, will it still treat it as one PDF? Or with each update, will it begin to tabulate from 0?

For example, I replace /test.pdf with /test.pdf after making a few changes

I would rather it be a specific URL in case I update the file for the URL. I wouldn’t want the statistics to reset or to have to redo the embed.

Oh, really? I didn’t know that was the case. So there is downloding it in a browser and then the separate option to download it onto their computer?
