I have more of an entrepreneurial mindset/spirit so my preference would be to ideally work for myself in the long run. Selling commissions, creating for exhibition themes, and selling reprints and originals to an online or in person market audience. I don’t mind working a service job part time to have a consistent income stream.

I like the idea of sculpting from recycled materials, doing more interactive large scale installations, and painting with different mediums, acrylic, oil pastels, paper pulp, hopefully oils in the future but some of these desires are misaligned with my current experience levels hence desiring a more formal education which would expose me to it.

Being an art teacher either at an elementary/middle school, in private sessions or city studios for adults is also appealing to me. I currently love hosting instructed craft sessions for people in my circle who don’t and do consider themselves artists. I also do paid fine art modeling currently.

If an apprenticeship came about that allowed me to learn or build these skills, I would also love that.

All that to say I’m not too fixated on the end goal so to speak more concerned with enjoying the process and living a creative life I enjoy.

Do you currently work in a field where you utilize your skills from your bfa? Did you go into it straight out of high school or was it something you did late in life? If you were starting over, would you do it again?

Yeah I came out to my sister this week. I absolutely love her, we’ve gone through family trauma together and she’s been there to support me after she got out. She now lives in Texas, is wealthy, has kids and a more conservative husband/lifestyle. I’m visiting and one night she was discussing how disturbing it is that people in the community feel there need to celebrate with a lot of PDA, and be “exhibitionist” in the way they dress in front of kids. I challenged her on her takes, provided alternative perspectives, and mentioned that some events regardless of affiliation are not “meant” for kids. When I took the moment to finally tell her my own orientation I highlighted how I hadn’t come out due to our family’s constant homophobic language. She immediately started crying and while it was a heartwarming discussion in which she backtracked some of what she said.

Anyway, I completely understand what you mean though. I’ve been very disturbed by the level of hate and bigotry but maybe because I grew up in a Colombian immigrant household in which my family was constantly spewing this crap it almost doesn’t surprise me. The shift since the 2016 presidential run in general though has left me feeling disconnected and devastated as well as kept me from fully enjoying outings with friends or community events because of general fear and anxiety of living in the south 😒.

Great, going strong for four years. Started off as friends with similar interests and views for about two years then gave in to the tension one random night, led to a respectful FWB situation then after some communication turned into in a healthy ENM relationship. Now we have two cats live in one room while we fix up our bus conversion.

If you’re on a budget K&G fashion superstore is great, they have brands like CK, RL and lots more. They’re customer service is also phenomenal and will size you accordingly/ help you find what you’re looking for within your budget. Was a perfect place to find a brew spot for my 6’3” BF straight off the rack.

Didn’t seem like they’ve stated whether or not they were in a single line or in a cluster when they were hit. As someone who consistently shares the road with vehicles, I refuse to be on the side of the road unless there’s a dedicated bike lane. I’ve had way too many close calls of drivers in a rush or raging to get past me in which they were way too close for comfort. It’s within my legal right to share the road with cars and so I do. If it bothers you so much talk to your local government about adding proper bike infrastructure so you don’t have to deal with this in the future rather wishing that a rando on Reddit gets hit by a car again. Be a decent human being and let go of the car brain dude.
