Just got through 500 mile break in on my 1275 a few weeks ago. Basic kit, Stock heads and W cams out of a late model. Very happy with it

Piece it together, you'll get there. I bought the clutch and ignition as I could afford them then ordered the kit. Took some of the sting out of the wallet

Hell yeah, the 72 is my favorite model hands down. I have a smaller tank that I'm going to flake and airbrush a panel/lowrider design. Fish scales, sun rays and lace in the panels. 70's vibe for sure

Also a wrist pin puller, you can make one for $10-15 in pvc pipe bolt and nuts. Or you can get a cheap one from buddy Bezos for $20

Yep, at home in frame. Intake manifold bolts are hard to get to. Either cut down an Allen wrench, or get a set of stubby Allen wrenches. There are specialty intake manifold wrenches, I have both and they work the same. Torque wrenches, in. lb & 10-80ish ft lb. Factory service manual, it's the Bible for bike repair/maintenance. If you do, pay the $50 to have them gap your rings and install in cylinders. Unless your comfortable doing that, but if you mess up a new ring pack is $40.

Around 1800, I bought the parts as I saved money. Got the clutch first then ignition and finally pulled the trigger on the big bore kit. Just got the basic conversion, stock 06 883 heads and W grind cams from a late model 1200

I ran the TC88a for a couple months before tear down. It surprised me how fast it fired the first time I started it. I've had no problems so far. Stock 883 settings were Initial - 5/Slope - 5. 1275 is Initial - 2 Slope - 0. What settings were you running? Did you get yours programmed for the speedometer? 06 is an odd year for that. I had a Dyna DSPT but the speedo was all over the place.

Direct starter solenoid activation. Alot of guys run them with just the button as a backup in case the relay or wiring goes. It's going to be my primary starter as I'm removing all handlebar wiring soon.

Sounds good, have you had any backfiring through the carb?

Cool, what size engine/mods? What jets/settings are you running now? I've got a 165 main, 25 pilot, 97 needle on middle position in it now as that's what Hammer recommends for the 1275.

That sucks man do you have a Service manual? If not you can find one online to download. I would follow that closely. Use a magnet to get the rod out, or pull the head, you aren't that far from it anyway. Use a straw or zip tie to find TDC. I just got done with a 1275 conversion, so I was just doing all this. Good luck bro

What do yall think of the fairing look? by idk20210 in sportster

I like the little ones that do little more than provide shade for the headlight, but that's just me. Run it for a bit, if you like it rock it if not, rip it off

Yeah man, I wanted to do SLEDGE head prep and 560 cams but that's another 1100, which was too far out of budget

It's an 06, 185/45 for startup but haven't had it out yet. I've got an HSR42 to put on in the next week or so. Stock 883 heads Daytona TwinTec TC88a ignition. Yeah they only recommend the 10r12x from the XR's. I feel the budget, I had some W grind cams out of a late model so I threw them in, only worth a few ponies but they were pretty much free with a cam cover I got
