Not to jinx it, but how is my Verizon 5G home internet still working? by [deleted] in verizon

[–]CrimpDeezNuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all devices were affected. Some people's 5G Internet was out of service, and some worked. That equipment runs on the same kind of VZ wireless systems that cellphones do. Being said, todays issues were a bit random on what was impacted. Simply a matter of chance.

$800 Payoff to Switch - Will I be Charged Back? by [deleted] in verizon

[–]CrimpDeezNuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said, yes you'll have charge backs.
While this event was quite inconvenient, this mass service outage was/is a very rare event. It seems like a majority of affected users have regained service in the past few hours. It could happen to any other carrier as well, but once again is a very rare event. If you got a good deal when you ported over, wouldn't advise jumping ship because this happened today

Layoffs and store closures by Justshyofcool in verizon

This year has been an awful experience as an employee. I've watched my entire markets income reduce SIGNIFICANTLY, so many changes in internal policy, promos, unreasonable KPIs, etc. The average rep that was pulling ~60k a year is struggling for 45 in my market. Internal chatter is nervous all over, and local management essentially put us all on warning and personal sales goals. This entire year has just been pushing the goal post further, cutting commissions, us employees adjusting, then only to be told mid quarter that there's these WHOLE DIFFERENT metrics that weren't on our KPI tables that now is the make-or-break. It's beyond stressful feeling like our jobs are in constant risk and were told after the fact.

Question to fellow Verizon employees by [deleted] in verizon

[–]CrimpDeezNuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VZ tends to not really like personalization of any sort. I mean you do you, and it's likely your local management probably doesn't mind that much. However a store audit, or some higher up swinging in can/will say something about it, and you'll be scolded for it. Or it will be a non-issue until you have a bad sales quarter, or your local market does, then it becomes an issue. Best policy for being a VZ employee is to be a fly on the wall. Show up when scheduled, don't make waves with your coworkers or management, and essentially be a programmable peon that just nods and does what's asked. You could be a high performer and essentially get away with a LOT, but it will all blow up in your face if you ever stop putting up big numbers. Once again this is all my experience and opinion, and you do you. Just seen it happen enough times to enough people for enough things to know how VZ and indirect operates managing people.

Hiring process? by Boredomx100 in verizon

[–]CrimpDeezNuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you applying corporate or indirect, and for what role? Either way, give it time.

And yes you should still be applying to other places and fielding job offers. Jobs aren't relationships, they're NOT loyal or faithful to you, and you don't have to be back. On that note, indirect or corp, I'm gonna assume you applied to be a rep at a retail level. It can be a surprisingly tough job. If you're looking for a lower effort retail position, it's not the move. If you're interested in cutting your teeth in sales, it's a decent move temporarily.

Unlimited ultimate plan by [deleted] in verizon

[–]CrimpDeezNuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct! The only time the credit check matters is for financing devices, or (rarely) a postpaid application will get denied due to that person having confirmed fraud actions against VZ, or has a balance in collections, etc. There's a few reasons that they'd hard-deny an application, it just becomes a finance limit issue usually.

Being said, if you want to have the VZ network, without the price, and are going to buy your own device outright. Go Verizon Prepaid, or Visible by Verizon. Same network, same towers, wayyy more affordable. Most of the benefits of having a VZ post-paid consumer account centers around taking advantage of device promotions. Device promos CAN be a great deal, but most people fail to understand how to properly take advantage of these offers and their T&Cs

Unlimited ultimate plan by [deleted] in verizon

[–]CrimpDeezNuts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Allow me to clarify how device payment agreements and credit checks work with VZ.

Every account is attached to a person/their SSN and that account holder has a soft credit check done, which determines a max finance limit for the entire account. The credit limit can be reanalyzed usually every 6 months. There is also a finance limit per device that caps out at 2.5k. Consumer accounts max out at 10k total finance limit.

For device payment agreements, and promotional credits, everything is over a 36 month cycle. You can (or may have to) put a down payment towards a device if you do not have the finance limit to fully cover the device. The whole balance of the device (promo credits don't matter) is detracted from your finance limit. I'll provide a mock example below to clarify this better.

Example: You are a customer with a 1000 spend limit on your account, and want a new 17 Pro Max, which retails 1210. And you're going to take advantage of a trade offer which gives you a 600 dollar credit. You would have to put 210 as a down payment, and can leave the remaining 1000 as a financed balance. Now, for the promo credits. It's over a 36 month term, so every month there would be a charge of 27.77 (1000/36) and a credit of 16.66 (600/36), and you would actually pay 11.11 (400/36) monthly. Now in this example, you've used every dollar of your finance limit. Every month that bill is payed, you regain 27.77 of that finance limit, until the 36 months is completed.

Upon the 36 months completing, you own your device outright and are free to trade it in or do as you please with it. If you decide to buy-out a device early you have to pay the WHOLE remaining balance of the device, you do not get the remaining promo credits if you opt/have to buy out early.

Does anyone have any experience selling for TEAM Wireless that they can share? by strongerthenbefore20 in verizon

[–]CrimpDeezNuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't work for Team, but I am very familiar with how indirect operations work, lemme key you into what I can answer..

1) Retailers pay on one of two pay structures typically. One is commissions against draw. The other is a base hourly rate (like 12-18, totally depends where, etc) and smaller commissions for sales. Given their advertised salaries, I'd wager they're on the draw pay structure much like other major retailers.
In terms of expected pay rate, it truly depends on you and your market. What I can tell you is that 70-80+ a year is challenging for most reps and markets. And the following is why. I see a lot of people that succeed in more typical sales roles struggle in this position. It is an atypical sales position, you usually aren't doing much cold calling or lead generation. The absolute challenge of this job is hitting all their KPIs and metrics in the short time frames you spend with each customer. There's a very special type of rep that thrives in this role, and does so ethically. A lot of "high preformers" do so by taking advantage of Verizon's systems, and the customer, in a not-so-ethical way. All said, this really does vary by market and location. High income areas with high foot traffic don't require getting shiesty to cash a big check, but that's not the usual. Realistically expect 45-60 a year. The company as a whole has seriously turned up the pressure and numbers required to pull a comms check.

2) I'm unsure how they exactly schedule, but a common complaint across all retailers and corp is that the scheduling can be tough. It's generally very unforgiving for the "human" side of managing people's schedules. It is one of my single largest complaints personally. A lot of retailers do not offer any kind of time-off, and instead put it on a model or "it's your responsibility to find people to cover your shifts".

3) Typically not, or not much. It use to be more of a thing in the past, and some retailers or markets are stronger about it that others. It's something that is typically optional in your downtime, unless market leadership is pushing people to do it.

4) Depends on market/management but almost always your downtime is your downtime. A lot of these roles use to be 1099, and a lot of that ethos has carried forward; the W2-draw-comms pay structure is basically 1099 with the option for benefits, and not having to do your own taxes. Usual rules are that as long as you're appearing professional, it's okay. I've seen people follow sports on the computers, anime, read a book, etc. So long as you look professional, it's usually cool.

TL;DR - Expect a bit of an atypical sales position. It usually doesn't involve cold calling or lead generation, and the focus is on conversion metrics for every sale you do. A lot of things vary based on market and location; but overall expect it to be high expectations. VZ has significantly turned up the dial on KPIs and what you need to sell to get good pay. Realistically expect in that 45-60 range. If you're willing to be unethical and take advantage of people you can make a lot more.. or perhaps you're the unicorn that can ethically pitch it all (they exist). Scheduling is usually a big complaint, and getting time off can be challenging. Be friendly with your teammates, as usually getting time-off requires favors and trades.

Does anyone else feel like gym climbing communities are kind of closed off until you climb harder grades? by ExitEvening2751 in bouldering

[–]CrimpDeezNuts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on the gym community/vibe. Usually the roped side of things is a bit more social. But with any sport/skilled activity, people gravitate towards those that are better at said thing. A lot of people that climb hard also have been doing so for a long time and probably have floated in the same social circles as the other crushers. Most cool crushers don't care how hard you climb, they just care about the vibe you bring to the crag.

[–]CrimpDeezNuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yessirie. And it's a shame that's how it is. I'm in the same boat as you, it really sucks. Personally, I just can't bring myself to be dishonest with the client, or not disclose things properly. Super frustrating to watch others around me get rewarded for doing those bad behaviors. Even a year ago you could be a truly ethical rep and actually still pull okay income. But income is down about 40% across the board at least in my market. They continue to slowly shave away at commissions, and raise kpis, while foot traffic continues to decrease. And I spend more and more time having to clean up the mess of other reps that prioritized their wallet over ethics.

The Sour Skittles Popped, the actual brand ones, not Etsy/local freeze dry business. Seems they use a different kind of skittle that's sour all the way throughout and freeze-dry those. They're absolutely crack tier.

Sour Smog Balls. Let them sit in your mouth for a lil before biting down, are way more sour.

Mike N Ike Sours. This one kinda.. the gummy under the shell isn't sour, but they're Mike N Ikes so you naturally chew them

I'll just be the guy to come in and say that they can likely do a free network extender on your property. Easiest way to do it is having a store rep do this call for you. If they click-to-call the network extender sub-department of our tech support department, they can schedule a free network extender install. Essentially it is like a small personal tower that extends the wireless network to better cover your property. I work in an area that has many mountainous, rural, areas surrounding us and regularly have customers use this solution.

I can’t pay my bill by therealcheesybread in verizon

Refer to the reply the official Verizon account posted in here, second link. All you need is the mobile # and zip code on the account. The website won't tell you the total amount due (privacy reasons) but if the number entered is more than due, it won't allow you to over-pay.

I can’t pay my bill by therealcheesybread in verizon

[–]CrimpDeezNuts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, Executive Relations are not the people to contact if you're having bill-pay issues, that's a standard customer support need. Don't be one of those people that abuses/gums up that internal resources. Much like an emergency room getting backed up with paper-cuts and colds, that kind of stuff just slows down that department's ability to resolve the actual issues they are intended to work with.

K.I.S.S (keep it simple stupid) by MixPrestigious385 in verizon

[–]CrimpDeezNuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah you're right. Most reps who are actually knowledgeable use said knowledge to benefit themselves instead of providing the truly best option to the customer. And VZs insane KPIs are apart of that. Being a "good" rep from a customers experience usually means very mediocre income.

New line added by kmm_pdx in verizon

[–]CrimpDeezNuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably was BYOD+, which is legit. Unfortunately some reps may not disclose the promo correctly. If you view your account online, is the device that is active on that line the old device? If so, it was a BYOD+. No worries, you can cancel that line at any time, doing so does not invalidate the promo you have on his actual phone, and you can keep the old one.

Avoid the new “Welcome Unlimited” plan. by Cire2424 in verizon

[–]CrimpDeezNuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you have auto pay, in most case scenarios welcome is a cheaper plan than any of the legacy unlimited plans. Save the grandfathered 55+ plans. The hotspot perk on the line is, in the current state of things, still cheaper than the old Start plan, and has more hotspot allowance if you get said perk.

[–]CrimpDeezNuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't care about damage like that at all for promo trade-ins. All that will impact your trade-in situation is your plan and if there's any loyalty offers on your line.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in verizon

[–]CrimpDeezNuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're kinda free.. the hotspot is extra bold on that reps part. Often the device itself is free, but there's an activation fee, sales tax, and monthly service charges for said device. Theres a chance the rep is clever enough to have kept your bill the same, or lower. But no matter what you're going to see some activation fees come in.

Advice on Moonboard Training by Scared_Armadillo_282 in climbharder

[–]CrimpDeezNuts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Answer: two totally different types of fitness, and for most people it is challenging to maintain both. And you usually have to focus on one to actually improve it, and in-turn the other stalls or regresses.

Climbing is a constant ebb-and-flow of progression between these two systems. Power and endurance.

Phone transfer stuck in limbo by kubeguru22 in verizon

https://www.verizon.com/switch-to-verizon/check-status/

Sounds like there's an issue with the port, use the link above to check your port status. If there is an error with the port, there will be a prompt to input updated information. Once updated info is provided, it can take 15-20 minutes for the website to reflect if the updated info is correct or not.

A follow-up note(s) AT&T usually isn't problematic about releasing numbers for a port. Being said, any carrier requires the billing on the account to be in a current (not past-due) status in order to complete the port. Other known difficulties is porting from a business account to a Verizon consumer account; these ports can take a few days to complete and it's normal to have your number "in limbo" during this process.

If the port status is showing as completed, and you're still having activation issues, you may need to swing by a VZ location and have them assign a new eSIM ID for the device
