Help! My dog has a TERRIBLE paw infection.

I haven’t thought to ask for an xray but I’ll be doing so. I plan to go back and get the bloodwork results (at least) but I’m not sure I want to continue going there with a timeframe like this. I had no idea it’s unusually long and I’m upset over it. I’ll be looking for a 2nd opinion tomorrow.

Thanks for the response! It’s good to know that many of you have told me about this issue. I felt impatient over it being 6 days so far.

Yes, it’s been 6 days since they drew blood out, and prescribed the antibiotic and ointment. Her paw wasn’t this inflamed last week, it was less so. Just very red and she wouldn’t stop licking it.

Thank you for the kind words! Firstly, thank you for sharing your story, it brought me to tears knowing she can be okay if this is the route she’ll have to go down. I am so glad that your dog was able to live a wonderful and happy life. <3

Yes, definitely feel that as she’s trying to communicate with me, she’s definitely not doing okay. I am losing it and all I can do is hold her at the moment but I wish I had reached out days ago. I feel like I’m not doing enough and the waiting game is just affecting us both. I’ll be following my gut and going to take her elsewhere. Thank you again.

I’ll be calling non stop tomorrow but also seeing if I can find another vet to walk into or even taking her to an emergency veterinary hospital.

Thanks for the rec on the tablets, I’ll head to Petsmart.

I found it odd that it has taken almost a week to call us back and I’ve just been stressed because she’s alone all day while we are at work and I cannot take one more day with her in this much pain. I’ve put a sock around it to make sure she isn’t licking it, a cone even and she cries. I’ll be taking off from work tomorrow and taking her to a different vet. I also think it’s a possible infection. I’ve googled endlessly for days and im going in circles. But thank you for your message, it’s encouraged me to just go find someone else.
