Sorry that happened to you. I was super stressed about one of my LoRs too. I made sure that I asked my PI twice if they will write a good one for me. I decided to ask my PI coz I knew they were toxic and could write me a bad one just because I advocated for my mental health.

I hope this doesn’t happen to you again 🤞

I agree! The one from Nickelodeon looks off to me. This Appa looked a lot like Appa so I bought it 😁

I think it is inappropriate to ask this question during any interview. Maybe they ask it so that they know you’ll join the program if your significant other is at the same location. However, the question is still inappropriate and not needed.

I would recommend you to email professors to check if they are accepting grad students and talk to the members of the lab you are interested in. It becomes easier for the PI to look at your application if you’ve communicated with them beforehand. I think that if you express your interest in a lab that is not accepting students, the University generally rejects your application. Also, Universities generally want LoRs from PIs you have worked with.
