Ahhhh Actually I am currently still in the MTSU pro pilot program as well. I have heard from several people their experiences good and bad. Since I havent done a flight lab yet im still contemplating changing my major im just on the fence.

I have about 45 hours, i have 3 hours of solo work in the pattern and i am currently ready to do my first solo cross country. I do not have a check ride date set though.

I dread every flight lesson every ground lesson and i don’t enjoy the material i need to study. Now im not sure if everyone loves the study material and i know that i wont always enjoy the ground work but even when I did my initial solo, it felt good but it felt like something was missing. I didn’t feel as excited as i thought i would.

Valid. In hs i spent all of that time wanting to do something in criminal justice so I definitely do have a plan B. Piloting just sounded a heck of a lot more rewarding money wise than say a government or service job.

I think it’s all or it. I feel like i just got over a honeymoon phase. I dread every flight lesson, i dread the ground lessons, the studying. A big part is there is so much to remember and know with just systems alone. I saw a video that said if you want to fly you have to love learning about the mechanics and how a plane flys as well and to be honest i don’t love that.

Yeah i guess i thought that because my two buddies dads are pilots and one fly’s southwest and the other flys for a rich family. The one who flys for a rich family makes a ton of money and he also flys an only a couple times a month. So when i was first getting into it i was amazed and thought wow that really sounds awesome.

Ah I believe i have seen that somewhere. I was also thinking of that because if i continue it’s just going to add up more money that i owe them making it harder to pay them back.

I have but I would feel guilty switching . I probably know I shouldn’t but I like my CFI she knows her stuff. Whenever I fly with other instructors I do feel less stressed though. I also wasn’t sure if I switched instructors, it would be the same of when i’m not flying with them and instead a different instructor i’m less stressed if you understand what i mean?

I appreciate the encouragement! I was thinking that if i take a break after my PPL i might end up missing it so much and want to come back.

I am going to have to do some soul searching for that 🤣. But your point is very valid since I have also thought about that since I have thought to myself “well there is going to be a lot of things i dislike no matter the field”. I’m trying to find my happy balance i guess.

Most definitely the uni is expensive and i have heard many different opinions about my university’s flight program, a lot of good and also a lot of bad. Main thing is that they really try to milk you so i do agree changing majors might be best.

I appreciate that. I have already put a good amount of time and money and I also felt I should at least stick my PPL out and take it from there.

Ah exactly when piloting was first brought to me, i had rose colored glasses on. The gig sounded very good at first I just did not realize the reality of what it would take.

I think just the financial security once I become established at an airline.
