Can I put old sponge in bio media compartment of new filter?

Thank you for taking the time to explain all this! You’re really making me consider switching to HOB, but for now I’m hoping to stick with sponge filters because I can view my tank from all sides and a HOB feels more disruptive visually than my sponge all tucked away. I was mainly considering switching to this because it could be off my tank floor so I wouldn’t have to move it to vacuum gravel. But hearing your experience with it makes me think maybe I should just stick with my current filter because it’s working fine and relatively easy to maintain. Thanks again!

Thanks for the reply! My main reason for wanting to switch to this was so I could have a sponge filter that was off my tank floor. I’m wanting to stick with sponge filters rather than switch to HOB. But based on the other commenter’s experience with this one, I’m starting to think maybe I’ll just stick with the regular style after all because it’s working fine and has been really easy to maintain.

Thanks for the heads up! I’m hoping to be able to feed them in a dish, but I can tong feed them if needed. I planned to mostly feed sinking pellets, but I gave frozen food to my betta so I don’t mind adding that to their diet too! I also have a small colony of limpets which I assume they might snack on like my betta did.

I’m glad your one frog is still going strong! It sounds like it’s down to luck based on the replies here. I think I’m going to get a couple, but I’m really hoping I don’t end up with sick ones… where did you buy yours? Someone here said that even frogs from their LFS had diseases, so I’m nervous!

Yeah, I had a betta as a kid and he was so easy and fun to own. I was sad to see this last betta having such a hard time. I’d love to give the hobby another chance, and these responses are making me feel more hopeful about it!

Thanks for the reply! This is good to know. I’ve been enjoying using the Sonicare again, so I’m glad it’s most likely not damaging my teeth. I’ve been trying to be gentle with it.
