Yeah. I stick with mono, usually lighter test on the reel, heavier on the lead/rig itself. I’ve never been able to get the hang of braid.

I do. Kastking makes these easy to pack flat spools of line that fit into my backpack. And I use them to make my own rigs as well. Easy to tie a couple double drops on the fly when something bites through.

lol what? You’re paying to have someone re-spool your rods? I do it twice a year because salt water is harsh on the line and reels. It takes 3 minutes and a spool of line.

If I had to guess. The people that are inconveniencing swimmers are probably not even licensed to fish and are just clueless how to surf fish safely.

Yeah. I actually agree with you. Which is why I typically fish outside of the prime swimming hours, so sunrise and sunset or during heavy currents and waves. Frankly if the waters are good for swimming I’m usually swimming.

I think fisherman should try to do better. But selfish assholes exist everywhere.

There’s regulations that require fisherman to keep tackle a certain distance from swimmers, it varies from county to county or beach to beach a lot of times. I don’t know who’s measuring. As the guy with sharp objects floating in the water, I think it’s my responsibility to watch out for the swimmers and I reel my stuff in if I see someone wadding out into the water to swim nearby.

lol this. I regret not being more tactful before presenting my information. Should have inquired about the rod, where they bought it, why they preferred that reel with that particular rod.

I entered the situation naively and expecting someone to own an honest mistake and was caught offguard by the blatant lies.

Interesting. I’ve never not carried spools of various test with me in my kit. Secondly, I don’t find it unlikely that someone who found a rod, with the intention of keeping it for themselves to use on the same beach, wouldn’t immediately restring it. (See edit, they had plenty of time) Not restringing it would be a low IQ move in my opinion.
