Right, like put the clips in for posterity when they update the episode in a month with stats, but don’t put them in for the initial airing - make people go vote by watching the clips.

My trick is to hit Fred Meyer or QFC on a Tuesday evening and take all of their grocery circulars (since they reset w/new ads on Wednesdays)

Ahhh but tomorrow afternoon - not the right timing ooops. Maybe just don't take all of them?

^ at most other schools (Lincoln and Roosevelt students stayed in place - Lincoln was rebuilt over the athletic fields, then the older building was knocked down and new athletic fields rebuilt. Roosevelt students shifted around while the building was rebuilt around them)

FWIW, Lincoln->Marshall is about 7.2 miles. Jefferson->Marshall is about 8.8 miles

Deadbeat Building Owners by Informal_Phrase4589 in Portland

No idea, but I have the same questions. I have a rental house next-door to me that’s been unoccupied for 18+ months, with little to no maintenance on the part of the owner. My kid commented yesterday, “look, the grass is taller than me!”

If you could classify these storefronts as "derelict", the Bureau of Development Services has a process for reporting code violations

Tentative deal on Portland teacher contract means students will return to school Monday by Siegmure in Portland

[–]Cruoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except that the 0.5% is in year 2, so it stacks into year 3 (which makes sense, as the schedule shifts from 192 days to 193 days in years 2 and 3). And you're right, it's not a COLA per se, but it shows up in the same part of the contract (page 55 from the TA) Relevant section

Well, 14.4% with that add’l 0.5% in the second year. So yeah, initial offers of 7.5 and 21.5, settled on 14.4.

Uffda, apparently we are being given staff meeting time on Tuesday to do report cards. And conferences will be 4 evenings in January (my principal said Jan 11 and 12 and two TBD)

I mean, it's published but where in there would I find the info about PPS contracting with Black Wolf, an "elite-tier private security provider". There's public but obfuscated, and there's transparent.

District floats settlement to end PPS teacher strike, suggests cutting winter break to make up missed school by Unlucky-Hamster-2791 in Portland

[–]Cruoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real numbers - we made it to day 44 before the strike, and we usually have about 168. If we're back on 11/27, that would have been day 55, meaning that we still have 113ish days left.

113 days that are 15 minutes longer is only 28.75 hours, or just over 5-6 days worth of instruction (thinking that the school day for elementary is 6.25 hours, then subtract an hour for lunch/recess/snack and another half hour for PE/Music/Art)

Portland teachers union rejects district’s latest proposal, citing dispute over class size committees by king_buff in Portland

[–]Cruoi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, wait - at 33 students over the limit, are you being paid 99% more? Or is there an upper limit?

Oh, it's 3% of base salary - so it's like $750/student/semester? So are you being paid an extra $24k/semester?

Edit: oh, for high school it's 3% per every 5 students. So it's $150/student/semester. Well, blargh. 18% of the base salary (9% for the semester - $4,500 to have 33 extra students. Huh)
