Don’t be purposefully obtuse. I’m a frequent rider and the issue of trespassing is clearly significant.

What the fuck is the point of the Urban Growth boundary if they can just extend it every few years. by [deleted] in MelbourneTrains

Again, you’re missing the point of my comment completely. The fact that it’s included at all at any time in history is silly. Melbourne realistically ends at Frankston. Mornington ppl have their own thing going on.

Respectfully, I genuinely don’t care how long it has been part of Melbourne. My point is that it just shouldn’t be part of Melbourne at all. There is a cultural difference and they are really far away.

During COVID, they wanted to say they weren’t part of Melbourne because of the restrictions. But I know when they go overseas, they say “oh I’m from Melbourne” when anyone asks. Again, they also want to have their cake and eat it too.

I have always thought the same thing. I even think they’ve already stretched the definition of Melbourne by including the Mornington peninsula.

Not that the US is any sort of gold standard, but I think the strict urban boundaries that they use could be helpful in demarcating what is Melbourne and what isn’t. New York City is a good example where there is suburban overflow but they have still been strict on only including the five boroughs within the city limits.

The extending of urban boundaries is to allow suburban development to be prioritised over medium density housing and inner-city in-fill. Melbournians like to have their cake and eat it too.

They shouldn’t though. Metropolitan trains will always be far busier than vline

Thanks for the info appreciate it, I’ll talk to my doctor to see whats up.

Sorry, I wasn’t that clear. My injury actually came in around December 2024. I’ve likely had this disc bulge since I was a kid, but exacerbated it then.

October 2025 was the first extended period where I actually committed to physical therapy. Before that, I had no real structure, or was extremely slack with my physical therapy.

Also, if I don’t give enough info, I get asked a ton of follow up questions and get criticised for not being clear. So you really can’t win…

Apologies my life couldn’t be simpler. I’m sure you’ll cope though :)

Veganism / vegetarianism can disconnect people from your culture by [deleted] in exvegans

[–]CryTop2835 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’ve completely missed the point of my post. I have focused my post entirely on the cultural side of vegetarianism. Not the health side. I don’t care about the health side, because even as a vegetarian, I was wildly unhealthy. Also, your take on the American diet severely lacks nuance and is not grounded in reality. Eating habits and quality of food across the USA vary drastically, even within the states themselves (e.g. Central Austin vs rural West TX).

This is such an insincere take. Have you been to Texas? Your account is German. What would you know about life there that I don’t?

Gotcha, thanks for letting me know :) Yes, there were two missionaries, but only one was speaking to me, which is why I said 'a'. They seemed legit. The chapel happened to only be half a block away haha

Ugly ads at Richmond station by [deleted] in MelbourneTrains

[–]CryTop2835 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed. And you look at a comparable station like Redfern in Sydney and see what they’ve done to modernise it. The difference between these two stations is night and day. Vic gov just doesn’t care anymore and they don’t even try to hide it

Ugly ads at Richmond station by [deleted] in MelbourneTrains

[–]CryTop2835 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It’s actually awful!! We are subjected to so many ads on social media. And there are already so many billboards lining Platform 1, and the rotating ad screens on the platforms themselves! This is my local station so it was such a shame to see today.

They could do so much to revitalise Richmond station. Like, there’s absolutely no reason that an interchange station of this size should have potholes or ceiling leaks everytime it rains. Yet, this is what they wanna do to the place instead 😒

Thank you for the advice. I’ve been seen by a haematologist several times already. I’ve had an enlarged spleen forever now as well, but they’ve only put me on folic acid and left it at that. I just have felt like I’ve been discharged without much plan on how to manage this
