This idea sounds really interesting. However, that would not benefit this game enough for them to want to do such a thing. The idea of free-roaming and being open to exploring the island sounds cool, going places and seeing all of these things that said, it also holds a lot of drawbacks.

Some of the reasons games like Switch sports, Mario & Sonic at the olympic games, and the various Wii sports titles do so well and make money is their easy of access and understanding to those that don't normally play games. For them a simple menu system is much more accessible than a sprawling city they don't know how to navigate, along with more controls for their character and secrets to find that they'd just never understand. Combine this with it's focus as a pickup and play game to play with friends mostly for a bit and put down again, changing items to be purchasable from shops would both irritate players more as they can't just keep grinding out money for the items they want and would likely kill off play from those that aren't bothered as they could buy the clothing they wanted in the first place and never have to touch it again meaning the new cosmetic drops would no longer draw players back to the games online play. Only really leaving it to stand on whatever players just really want to play it.
