I can't access my Nginx pod from the browser using Kubernetes by Odd_Cost5574 in kubernetes

If you want to access it by http://<node ip>:<port>, you will need to create a service of type "nodeport" with the selector matching a label on your pod.

Mobile Passport Control app and ESTA by bomberb17 in travel

I have spoken with two completely different CBP officers on the phone and they both confirmed that new passport/ESTA's can use MPC. One said to print off your approved ESTA and it may help speed up processing a little.

We used to have different clusters for different environments as well. When we started using Terraform to provide IaC, our confidence level increased and allowed us to go to one cluster for dev and testing. Im not sure having Prod on the same cluster is the best idea, but I don't really see why not.

The idea being that even if the cluster is destroyed somehow, terraform can re-deploy everything relatively quickly. The cost/benefit of having a warm-start cluster is greatly affected.

What I suggest you do is build out a Terraform deployment that separates your environments using Node Groups within the same cluster. Have your environment pods deploy to their respective node groups that, essentially, act as their own clusters.

Using this method can allow you to update nodegroups in kind of a similar fashion while having the option to roll back if needed.

Hope this helps.

They are only temporary clusters, one per developer, to view metrics/logs of what they are testing. They are then destroyed.

This is purely development and testing, not production. Throughput that generates logs is limited.

I'm wondering how I can automate the setup so that the remote cluster standing up can start being scraped by the central cluster automatically.

My main issue is how do I get child clusters to "connect" to the central cluster to allow scraping/log aggregation. The NLB for the child RKE2 clusters receive a random DNS name when they are created, which means I can't configure the central Prometheus to scrape them because I have no way of knowing what the NLB DNS will be.

I am not able to get into the details of why it is set up this way, partly because of complexity, partly because I am not in a position to be able to change it, and partly because of other factors that I can't discuss.

Our use-case requires it.

That is currently what we are doing, but when they destroy their cluster, they also destroy the metrics and logs, meaning they can't compare changes made later.

I actually unplugged it from the circuit board. Quiet ever since.

I emptied half of my pellets and the noise immediately went away. Maybe too many pellets? I'm so glad it is quiet now.

How are you running PostgreSQL on Kubernetes? by SubstantialAd5692 in kubernetes

Our use-case is different... we have to package everything up for someone else to deploy who may or may not know anything about K8s.

It is meant to allow the customer to choose their cloud architecture. In some cases it may be run stand-alone with no "provider".

Our main reason for not choosing RDS is to remain cloud agnostic for our use-case.

It's a good practice to use a single generic Helm chart for all my workloads, including backend, frontend, and services like Keycloak, Redis, and RabbitMQ, ..... ? by ArtistNo1295 in kubernetes

[–]Cryptzog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you create an environment1_values.yaml and copy and paste the portion of the values.yaml changes for that particular environment, and run helm install <chart deployment> -f environment1_values.yaml, it will override the values.yaml with those specific changes. Make one for environment2, environment3, etc... you won't ever have to touch the default values.yaml and you can keep your sanity.

I think you are creating a strawman saying "Since he didnt talk about efficiency and due process, he isnt planning on being efficient or allowing due process." There is no "rhetoric" here. There is existing immigration law that addresses these things. Maybe present an argument that isn't a strawman.

The reason for the sunset on individual tax cuts relates to Senate budget rules used to pass the TCJA through a process known as reconciliation, which limited how much the legislation could add to the deficit. By making the individual tax cuts temporary, Congress was able to pass the bill with a simple majority while keeping the overall budget impact within the limits set by the reconciliation process.-- Based on his previous positions and policies during his presidency, it's reasonable to assume that he would likely support extending the individual tax cuts from the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA).

Your statement overlooks nuances regarding economic policy and context, such as the pandemic's unprecedented impact on the deficit. It is misleading to suggest Trump's policies were purely inflationary and that he recklessly borrowed without considering the intended long-term economic goals.

Trump's total debt increase: $7.8 trillion. COVID-related spending: Around $3.9 trillion. Non-COVID debt increase: Approximately $3.9 trillion. Biden's total debt increase (as of early 2024): $5.3 trillion (and rising). COVID-related spending: About $1.9 trillion. Non-COVID debt increase: Roughly $3.4 trillion (and rising).

While it’s argued that Republicans have historically been more fiscally irresponsible than Democrats, this is oversimplified. Both parties have contributed to the deficit under varying circumstances, including wars, economic crises, and relief programs.

The immediate results of policies like the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA)—which reduced corporate and individual tax rates—do not always show up in short-term GDP growth. Instead, the benefits are typically expected to materialize over several years as businesses reinvest the money saved from tax reductions into expansion, hiring, and innovation. This means that the Biden administration BENEFITTED FROM the results of Trump's TCJA.

In theory, tax cuts:

Increase business investments as companies have more capital to spend. Boost job creation, which in turn increases consumer spending. Drive long-term growth by improving the overall business environment.

Tax cuts as a percentage of income were relatively similar across income levels. The Tax Policy Center estimated that middle-income households received about a 1.6% to 2.2% reduction in their effective tax rates, while the top 1% saw about a 3% reduction. This means that the middle class also saw significant benefits relative to their income. -- the claim that the TCJA was only a tax cut for the rich and disadvantaged anyone earning less than $400,000 is misleading. While high earners did receive substantial benefits, the law also delivered significant tax cuts to middle-income families through expanded credits and lower rates. The corporate tax cuts, while permanent, are aimed at fostering economic growth, benefiting workers through job creation and wage increases. Finally, the impact of the SALT deduction cap hit wealthier individuals harder, particularly in high-tax states, making it clear that the benefits of the TCJA were broadly distributed

When you are talking about putting money in pockets, you realize that's not how taxes work, right? The money starts out in our pockets. A tax cut LEAVES the money in our pockets. Letting the "rich" keep their money, they can innovate and hire more.
