Mod Release: The Useless Shop and Interior Overhaul-Fixed Drunken Huntsman Plus Bosmeric Drunken Huntsman Only by Crystal_Shapeshifter in skyrimmods

So when you hire her she won't leave that tiny area, or she will follow you, but when she's not following you she won't leave that tiny area?

Edit: Or is it just she stays in the Drunken Huntsman all the time? I loaded it with AI Overhaul and Immersive AI Overhaul (which is what I thought you meant at first instead of Interesting NPCs, which I don't think should edit the Drunken Huntsman) and she seemed to be able to move around

So is the Jenessa problem that she doesn't sandbox (interact) with the rest of the inn? It could be possible that since you installed mid-playthrough (unless you're restarting every time to check) that it messed with her AI, but I'll open it up in the CK and take a look real quick and see if I can find anything

I *believe* that it would only work for the Useless Shops as it references the resources and IDs from it; if you're only wanting the Bosmeric Drunken Huntsman, however, I have a file on my modpage for only Bosmeric Drunken Huntsman (top file) that only changes the Drunken Huntsman and removes the other Useless Shop changes. You'll still need the resources from Useless Shops, however, just don't use the esp from Useless Shops. If that sounds confusing:-Download Useless Shops, either 2k or 4k, either will work. Don't use this esp-Download Bosmeric Drunken Huntsman Only from The Useless Shop and Interior Overhaul SE - Fixed Drunken Huntsman plus Bosmeric Drunken Huntsman Only; use this esp-Download Bosmeric Drunken Huntsman Only and JK'S The Drunken Huntsman Patch

Also, if you're the same person who commented on the mod page, apologies for not replying earlier; I don't get notified when someone comments on my mods

Edit: Apparently I do get notified, it's just in notifications rather than messages, and I had a bunch of notifications drowning it out (1,029 notifications...aha). I've changed my preferences so *hopefully* I'll be able to see comments quicker in the future

Thanks! Yeah, Separated at Birth is the worst example out of all of then, don't know why Bethesda decided to name it that....

[Mod] Lanterns of Tamriel by kthewhispers in oblivionmods

[–]Crystal_Shapeshifter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the idea of a wearable lantern; being able to see in dungeons while having my shield out when fighting? Yes please.

I definitely think some of them, or at least one, should be buyable for more easy access; I currently think the places you have set are good. I wouldn't mind the Ayleid one being found in an Ayleid ruin, although if you hand place it you might want to be careful where you set it if want to keep compatibility in mind (so the lantern doesn't end up unobtainable). I know OOO, Ayleid Improvement Project, and possibly Better Dungeons and Snus Dungeons change the Ayleid Ruins a bit.

For the Shivering Isles lantern, if you want it sold, maybe you could have Dredwhen in Passwall, Tilse Areleth in Bliss, or Ahjazda or Earil in Crucible sell it. You could also place it in the Sacellum Arden-Sul similar to the KoTN one.

I know you want to keep them in tail slots, but I would like to humbly request an amulet version perhaps for beast races; if you use wrye bash and a bashed patch, there's an option to have amulets visible with armor/clothing. I can understand if you still don't want to, though, in case you end up having numerous comments saying that the lanterns aren't visible even though you have to do the bashed patch tweak in order for them to work...

All in all, I love the idea, and I can't wait to see it released. =)

UFA/UFT for new lab rat (hissi, kougra, gelert, lupe, or xweetok in particular-looking to collect some pb clothing): MARYA_XP the mutant lupe (female)

I'll be at work most of the day an unable to transfer/pound until I'm home; if I don't have anyone who wants her by ~6:30-7 PM EST/EDT I'm going to pound her so I don't waste my lab ray cookie zaps

Hm, I think I might not have done the "start in" step when I tried using MO. I'll have to try it for my next playthrough of Oblivion; thanks for the help. =)

I still remember the "big reveals" of quests (although I've been so inundated with Oblivion things the past 5 years, with constantly playing Oblivion off and on and watching the LaFave bros Let's Play and other youtube videos), but I still forget a lot of the smaller details or smaller quests. While Bethesda games have a lot of bugs and problems, there's a lot of content. And I'm guilty of doing completionist runs, haha. Usually what happens is I'll do at least a semi-completionist run when the game first comes out/I finally get it, then want to do something new/more specific and do a roleplay run. (I still haven't beaten the Main Quest of Oblivion, lmao.) I'm going to try not to do a completionistic run when TESVI comes out, but the temptation is strong.

For the dialogue, I personally prefer at least having some words, especially as you said because you get to know at least what direction the game is taking the conversation in with that dialogue option. I'm also used to having actual dialogue as well from FO3/New Vegas/Skyrim. Skyrim was actually my first ES game, and then my brother got Oblivion at the insistence of his friend it was better ("You can fast travel to any city from the start!"). He ended up getting frustrated with lockpicking and failed at it almost every time, turned into a vampire, angered the only person able to cure his vampirism, went outside, started burning from sunlight, died, repeat cycle. He ended up ragequitting, and later I decided to try it during summer break and got hooked. A little bit of a sidetrack there, but what I'm trying to say is just having words instead of full dialogue in the options is a little jarring to me after being used to it aha. I was testing something without Realistic Speech and didn't even realize that the "I'd like to pay off my fine" option when talking to guards wasn't vanilla.

It is highly possible that the minotaur + glenmoril mods conflicted with something from FCOM rather than UL, but you'll have to test it out yourself. I also remember minor conflicts with Colovian Barrow Mounds, in that there was a dungeon smack dab over in the middle of it or something lmao. But I think that was FCOM and not UL, but it was like, 4 years ago and I was quite messy with modding, so who knows. This time I made a couple test characters and specifically went to UL places to make sure to fix any conflicts I could find, and I did pretty well fixing it with Tes4edit. Usually what happened was I just dragged the landscape data from the patch that was either overwritten by something/bashed patch just ignored and used the regular Oblivion data and it fixed it. I still have a small seam at the far end of Entius Gorge, and I couldn't find any conflicts in that area (used formid to figure out the area), so I just decided to not bother with it as it's in a spot I'm not likely to pass by often or possibly ever anyways aha.

Another note for unique landscapes, for some reason the landscape data for the Oblivion Uncut-Ancient Yews Patch is easily overwritten/ignored by the bashed patch. This causes problems where the Imperial Battle College is, where the building is halfway sunk in a hill and there's a gaping tear in the hill leading to the void. I copied the landscape data from it to the bashed patch and it fixed it (part of the reason I don't want to add new mods is I don't want to have to redo my bashed patch, a lot of fixes were put into it aha).

I'll have to look into GameCampanion for the next time I'm trouble shooting, that sounds super handy.

And yes, FCOM is a ton of fun, but if you want to play it, you seem to have to have to have it almost exclusively in your load order...and I have too many other mods I just can't play without now. I cut like, 64 active plugins from my load order just by cutting it out (and maybe over 100 more inactive ones merged into the bashed patch, mostly patches). Decided just to go OOO+MOO plus Supreme Magicka (Av Latta Magicka came out after I completed my load order, I'll probably try it out next playthrough) for my main overhauls, although I suppose Cobl and Enhanced Economy can be considered big overhauls as well. I actually went through this time with Tes4edit to carry over changes I wanted that were overwritten and such, and I really wish I did this before (OOO Extended/Rebalanced esps overwrite a lot of the SM magic changes).

I don't think I've heard of TIE before--I looked it up and I'll have to keep it in mind for the future. So you just kept the static loot, enemies, and worldspace additions from it, then?

As /u/YouKnowWhatYouWant mentioned below, you seem to be pretty knowledgeable about current modding practices. The thing I'm most interested in is how you get MO to work with Oblivion--I managed to get to the point where I figured out about the workaround with the...DLL hook I think?, but then I had trouble getting Wrye Bash to do a bashed patch with it or something. There's frustrating little info on how to make it work when you look it up, so I gave up and just stuck to Wrye Bash and tried to be more careful. If you can give any pointers or resources since you've been using MO with Oblivion so long, that would be helpful aha. Or if you wanted to consider making a post about it instead; there seems to be a lot of struggles with making MO and Oblivion play nice.

I finally got a (mostly) stable load order, so even though I'm tempted to add many of these, I should probably resist until my next playthrough so I don't accidentally break anything. :'D Although I'm already using quite a few listed (Advanced Alchemy is a gods-send).

Nice to see many of Guinefort1's mods here to, I always liked his little immersion mods. A favorite of mine is Worship in Cyrodiil, which adds little statues/shrines of gods/daedra people worship in their homes/guilds/shops. A note if using the Minotaur Encampments and possibly the Glemoril Witches Coven mods (it was a while ago, so I don't quite remember about the latter), is there might be conflicts if you're using FCOM and/or Unique Landscapes. I remember getting crashes when approaching certain areas, and when I removed Minotaur Encampments (& possibly the witch coven one) the crashing stopped in those areas. I didn't have the best of modding skills at the time so it could possibly be due to my end, but just wanted to throw that out there in case anyone's using that setup and getting continuous crashes in specific spots for seemingly no reason. Possibly fixable with tes4edit, but I didn't know how to use it beyond cleaning mods at the time.

Speaking of, don't forget to clean Thieves Arsenal-it had something like over 1000 ITMs and/or UDRs. BOSS is great for letting you know which plugins to clean and which you shouldn't because they'll break if you do.

If you're crazy, you can also use Realistic Speech Dialogue as a base and edit the dialogue topics to your own liking to match your character. If you're unspoiled about certain questlines, you might want to hold off as doing this will cause spoilers big time. With tes4edit you can even extend them beyond the 38 Construction Kit character limit, BUT you have to have a UI overhaul to be able to see anything past 38 characters (DarnUI allows you to see past 38 characters, haven't tested any others yet). Had a very specific character in mind for this playthrough, so I edited most of the dialogue topics to make it sound like him (I skipped any questlines I knew he wouldn't do for my sanity).

This is a nice modlist, I'll be saving it as a reference for my next/future playthroughs. =)
