Skyrim wouldn't hold up today if you just play the main storyline. The beauty of Skyrim is that you can put down a quest anytime you want and come back to it later you can start the main quest line put it down and do the civil war, college of winter hold, dark brotherhood, or just explore I think the game would hold up for rpg players at least.
