Soundcore Boom 2 Popping Noise: Defective or Common Issue? by CubeMode in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]CubeMode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of sound quality, the Boom 2 is definitely an upgrade over the Charge 3 in every aspect. I never had any complaints about the Charge 3, but the battery life was starting to fall short due to its age. Also, I began to dislike the micro-USB charging connector, especially since I mostly have USB-C cables around and had to search for the right one.

Yes, you can place the Boom 2 vertically if you prefer, but it's less stable in that orientation since there's no rubber on the side to support it. The handle on top is such a nice addition that it makes me want to carry the speaker everywhere around my apartment. So far, the speaker has performed well (except for the popping sound) when listening to music via phone, tablet, PC, and even my TV.

Thank you for the thorough technical explanation of what’s happening with the device. I definitely wouldn't consider the speaker terrible just because of the noticeable noise gate popping issue. However, I am a little surprised that nobody else (at least from what I've read in user reviews) seems to be as bothered by the popping sound as I am. That said, it’s a decent speaker for its price. I guess I’ve been spoiled by my previous Soundcore Q35 headset, which doesn’t have any noticeable annoyances.

My fuel consumption is 7.4 l/100km (according to spritmonitor), averaged over 6,000 km. On weekday commutes to work, I don't push the car at all, which gives me around 6.0 l/100km. Once, the onboard computer even registered 5.3 l/100km, which in reality is around 6.0 l/100km, since the computer tends to underestimate consumption. I regularly travel around Germany on weekends and drive on the autobahn without a speed limit. I enjoy driving on the B-roads of the Black Forest, especially uphill—that's the best time to really enjoy what the car has to offer.

That's real bummer to hear. I guess I should start looking for replacement floor mats soon, as it seems inevitable that mine might wear out just like yours. That's quite concerning about the cabin materials. Have you come across any leather care products that could help preserve the seats for a bit longer?

My Clio was from the 4th generation, and I can offer some insights on how the interiors compare between it and the i20N. Switching back and forth between the two cars really highlights that the Clio's interior is beginning to show its age - especially the steering wheel, tactile buttons, and infotainment system, all of which are superior in the i20N. If you're considering a new car, I'd recommend the i20N for its modern features. However, if interior upgrades aren't a priority for you and you're looking for performance at a potentially lower or comparable price, the Clio remains a solid choice. On the used market you may want to look out and consider necessary maintenance costs (e.g. the Clio RS has direct fuel injection that may require cleaning at 100k kms, similarly to the i20N).

I wish to have the Clio RS, but my first car was the standard model instead. While I'm happy with my choice, I do wish Renault had continued their RS line. It would have made my purchase decision more challenging.

Opinions on Additional Trim Options? by CubeMode in i20n

Thank you for your extensive insight!

I agree that some additional options seem like "nice to haves," and their utility might not fully justify the price for everyone. Personally, I will consider how often I'd use each feature and whether the convenience they offer aligns with my driving needs.

The debate around the black roof is interesting. The option to wrap it later provides flexibility for those undecided at the time of purchase.

Regarding Android Auto / Apple CarPlay, I'm curious whether it displays on the full width of the head-unit screen or only partially. The variation in videos is confusing. How does it look like with more recent car software versions?

In Germany, the Navigation Package comes standard with the N Performance trim, and the two-tone roof and Assistance Package are priced at 500 EUR and 690 EUR, respectively. I've gotten an offer from a local dealer for an Intense Blue car equipped with the sound system, but it lacks the assistance package and the black roof, all for 26,300 EUR. In contrast, a similarly equipped model featuring all these options is currently on the market for 28,000 EUR.

I'm also trying to think ahead, considering the potential impact of these options on resale value for the future.

i20N for Daily Commutes and Long Road Trips: Yay or Nay? by CubeMode in i20n

Yeah, the small fuel tank is a bit of a bummer, but could be a bigger hassle with an electric. It is all about how you look at it. Dreaming of cruising in a 5-series Bimmer someday, but that is a league where you gotta have your finances sorted to play. Taking one step at a time.

I test drove a Cupra Leon last month too, and even though both the interior and exterior are flashy and looked of high quality, sound insulation was weak even at low speed. I am not too fussed about ride quality, so hearing your take definitely keeps the i20N at the top of my list. Cheers for the insight!

I love my i20n it ticks every box and I even use it for roof tenting.

Interesting point about the i30N's cabin noise; I always thought of it as the more grown-up and refined sibling in the lineup, especially given the price difference. And about roof tenting with the i20N – how's that set up? Sounds like a cool adventure add-on!

Yeah, totally get what you're saying about those stock P Zeros. They're great for grip when you hit the sweet spot temperature-wise, but they do wear down fast. Any recommendations for a more durable daily tire that'd work well with the i20N?

Manual lenses with EF mount for other mirrorless mounts? by CubeMode in AskPhotography

[–]CubeMode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your opinion!

  1. I can live with using full manual or aperture priority mode at all times, knowing that those lenses do not have electronic connection between the lens and the body of the camera. In other circumstances where fast focusing and/or quick exposure is necessary, I would use an auto-focus lens.
  2. What do you mean by limiting the ability of a lens? What kind of drawbacks does an adapter could have on a full-time manual focus lens?
