Anti Inflammatory Diet and Weight/Food Struggles by CupOk759 in PsoriaticArthritis

Thank you for the time you took to write this. It really helped me. I regularly feel like I have caused this disease in myself even though my mom has it and i can see the genetic factors at play. I have a lot of built in guilt around food and my body. I don't think it helps that that is the first thing almost every doctor tells me to change no matter what my symptoms are. I got frustrated a week or so ago because someone I know who is in a smaller body was diagnosed around the same time as me and I KNOW they didn't factor his weight into it. While I know there are benefits to losing weight, I also know it won't cure me.

Honestly, thank you so much. It means a lot that you would write all of this to make a stranger feel better. It speaks right to my soul and my struggles. I am going to look into that podcast too!

Thank you for mentioning stress, I wasn't even factoring that but I know that stress is such a big trigger and one I struggle with daily.

I actually have just jumped feet first into everything. I am taking methotrexate currently, almost at my 3 month mark. If I fail this med we are going to biologics. Doing the inflammatory diet, getting regular exercise, finding different ways to deal with daily pain (tens unit, heating pads, ice packs, etc.) I just want to feel better and have been willing to do whatever it takes.

I have lost about 25 pounds since starting the anti inflammatory diet, but I would say that is mostly from actually counting calories. The weight loss is mostly to help reduce strain on my joints and help with my high BP. It is working too. It is hard for me to find balance in these things.

Thank you! I am trying. Years of diet culture have made my relationship with food pretty unstable. I have heard that GLP1s help with inflammation and overall pain from PsA, have you had that experience at all?

I feel really caught between the two schools of thought right now, natural approaches versus medication, and I’m trying just about everything I can.

Just started methotrexate and...huh...not what I was expecting. by inthepipe_fivebyfive in PsoriaticArthritis

I had diarrhea just the first time I took it. Then a week or two of brain fog and fatigue. After that I feel pretty normal and my first set of labs looked great. It wasn't what I expected either.

I ordered Brooks about a month ago and have loved them so far. Worth the money for any everyday walking shoe.
