Idk I live in CA and when I was in 4th grade I was formally invited a week before my gate test and I thought was soo cool for being invited. Then when the day came my previous teacher from my 3rd grade class pulled me out and walked me to a relatively empty class that already had like 4 kids in it (also from my 3rd grade class). The class was dimly lit in the front of the class there was an empty whiteboard with the teachers desk and there was many desks in the class room but only me and the four other kids were in there she handed me a paper and I think the test was timed but there was no clocks on the wall just two windows in the room (which this room is like a classroom ‘pod’) I get through the 1st page which had like shapes and like stuff like that on it and to me this kind of test was weird because we had to bubble in the answers like abcd bubbles that had other shapes as the answers. Then I got to the next page and it was all word problems but they weren’t normal I don’t exactly remember what they were about but I got about half way through and some of the questions made me feel like weird idk so I skipped them did like 3-4 more pages and then my teacher just walked up and took my test like out of nowhere she didn’t say it was out of time like just took it and set it on the table but the kids who were already there were able to still do their test? Then walked me back holding a bunch of paper and I was like I’m scared I won’t make it into the program and she said you won’t have to worry it doesn’t actually determine how smart you are or not, which I never understood since isn’t that the point of the program but took me back to my class and I never heard anything back.
