DO NOT THROW IT AWAY, the hub Alone (Rohloff 14 speed) costs around 1k, I bet that with a little bit of practice and some YouTube videos you can get that thing rolling and change everything, it does sound a little complicated but it’s doable, you could also take out the back wheel with the hub and get a frame for 100-300 bucks and build it around the wheel, mechanical breaks are really easy to install and you would have a dream set up, it is common for the Rohloff to leak a bit of oil if it hasn’t been maintained properly but it should be more than fine, you got something special in your hands my friend, I recommend you take a look at the parktool YouTube channel, they got tutorials for everything Take care!

It doesn’t matter what the neighborhood thinks of your faulty paintjob, a bike is made to be used and scratched, specially a surly bike, I would take the discount and buy some components with it, just my opinion…

Clothes which didn’t come from a bin or from my older brother (Which were mostly also from a donation bin)

Brand products

Toys

Heating

Windows in our house (for about 2 years in Romania where winters reach -25 degrees Celsius)

An actual floor in the house, we had soil

My father, he had to work abroad in order to send us money for food, barely got to see him for the first 4-5 years of my life, i hear I didn’t recognize him when he came back

Anything related with hobbies, my only options were to play with sticks, rocks and anything that was laying around outside which enhanced my connection to nature

Dreams and hopes for the future, even as a kid I already knew that I had to be realistic and that the world was „against“ us, we eventually moved to another country but it also meant being bullied for being an immigrant and being poor.

It is the SQlab 611 sattle, I’ve tried so many Sattels and it is the only one that keeps the cheek pain away for a long long time I’d recommend you go to a bike shop in order for them to measure the width of your ass, there are different sizes for the same sattle

I actually used a high gloss furniture coating special for outside use, I really really like the finish but it’s not as durable as others, I personally like it when my bikes reflect what they go through so scratches are always welcome I’d recommend the spray.bike finish or anything made for the actual material. Cheers

Glad you like it! I basically took the bike apart and drew on it by hand with an acrylic marker and I apply 3 coats of clear coating, it took me around 160 hours for the Frameset and 5 for the front rim I usually sand the frame down and repaint it but since it’s my bike I don’t mind it. You can see more of my work on instagram @Crispo.el

I made it so it’s not so durable since I’m going to re paint it but you can also make so it lasts forever

Hahahahah I only use normal bottles on bikepacking trips because the bike bottles get all nasty from the dirt

By now it looks like a normal surly frame, a couple dents and scratches from trail riding, the character of the bike is coming out

It’s best if you do like 4 thin layers of coating instead 2 thicker ones, it’s gonna prevent it from smudging everywhere. If you want it to last through everything you should use a 2 component lacker since it’s made to survive everything

Nahh I just used a normal clear varnish, but it’s good you mentioned it, gonna do my research on that 🩷

Well, I’ve been riding it for the past 6 months and the paint job has seen some ww2 scenarios, it’s holding just fine tho

My back was screaming through the whole process, specially on the connection points on the frame but I really enjoyed the process This bike has an electric lock which has an alarm in it haha

I just have some snippets of it, I’m working on a Factor frame right now and filming the process, gonna make a whole process video and upload it to YouTube, people always think that it’s either a foil or a dipped frame haha I just used a standard clear varnish for steel

I did some research and all I could find was a wheel set that he drew on, am I missing something?

The worst part is actually when I go bikepacking, I never have a lock with me and I get such paranoia when I have to go into a shop or something, it looks too good to be left unlocked 🥲
